After meeting each other in college, Rebecca and Barry knew that's where they wanted to celebrate their forever together. They held their fabulous fall wedding at The Lewis Glucksman Gallery, UCC, in Cork, Ireland and it's totally off the charts beautiful and romantic.
They stayed true to themselves and added a lot of meaningful details throughout that really captured their love story. A display of their favorite books was the seating plan for their romantic reception that was filled with autumn tones and textures. The most important thing for us was for our personalities, our tastes, and our interests to shine through. We threw out the “traditional” wedding script, and built a personal wedding from the ground up. We wanted to celebrate our love of books, music, and art, and embrace the autumnal weather, colours and atmosphere.
Having met in college, being able to go back there for our wedding was important. The Glucksman specifically was special to us because Rebecca studied History of Art in UCC, spending countless hours in the gallery both on project work and simply enjoying the wonderful exhibitions.
We built our reception around our favourite books, with each one representing a different table. One of our close friends built us two beautiful bookshelves to use as table plans, and we were able to include a note in each book explaining why that book was important to us, giving a personal touch to a big party.
Finally, the flowers were something spectacular, with some incredibly personal touches. Jill Wild, our flower-smith extraordinaire, blew us away with intricate details, both big and small, that tied everything together. From using Proteas in the bouquets (the national flower of South Africa, Rebecca’s home) to ornaments and details that referenced our book list, she was simply phenomenal.
