When it came time to plan their destination wedding, these two knew Mountain Shadows Resort in Scottsdale Arizona was going to be the perfect setting for their desert chic wedding with a mid-century vibe inspired by the venue. With the beautiful Camelback Mountain as their backdrop, they said their “I do’s” under the warm Arizona sun.
From their ceremony to the reception, the minimal design came together with soft shades of blush and gold metallic accents, and we especially love the bride's desert-inspired bouquet with succulents and cacti. From The Bride: Jon and I met five years ago through a mutual friend who planned an amazing sailing trip in Croatia. Despite going to the same college and having a number of friends in common we never met until this trip. Over the 7 days we spent at sea we became good friends. When we arrived home, we continued to talk every day and realized we also went to the same church in Houston TX, it felt like fate – we quickly started dating and I knew very early on that he was “the one”.
Several years into our relationship Jon and I went to visit Scottsdale, Arizona. I was attending a work conference in Paradise Valley and we decided to make a weekend of it and spend a few days in Scottsdale hiking, golfing and enjoying the town. Jon does all the planning for our trips, so I was not surprised when he told me he had found the perfect place for us to stay over the weekend – Mountain Shadows Resort. The moment we arrived at the hotel I fell in love with the chic mid-century modern décor and the beautiful views of Camelback Mountain. As we wrapped up one of the most fun weekends we ever had, we laid out by the pool and started talking about how amazing it would be to have our wedding at Mountain Shadows one day.
When Jon gave me the surprise of a lifetime and proposed in November of 2018 – we immediately started planning our Scottsdale wedding. The first thing we did was book Mountain Shadows for our venue. We then immediately booked the services of Andrea Leslie Weddings to help us build a dream team of vendors. We wanted our entire wedding to be outdoors and set to the backdrop of gorgeous Camelback Mountain. It was important for us to maintain the mid-century modern ambiance of the venue, so we kept the florals and décor minimal and chic.
The one thing I splurged on within our florals was having an amazing bridal bouquet full of pink and white blooms, succulents, and even cactus. LUX Florists made the bouquet of my dreams a reality! Everything about our wedding weekend was perfect and it would have not been possible without the amazing team at Mountain Shadows, our wedding planner Katie Milstone, and our photographer Rachel Solomon. It was because of their collaboration and support that Jon and I were able to have the al fresco mid-century modern wedding of our dreams!
