From Moha Photography:Matt and Shannan put on one of the most beautifully detailed weddings I have ever been a part of. Everything, and I mean everything, had a place and purpose. It was a photographers dream, as everywhere I looked there were personalized touches that represent these two families coming together.
This truly was a family affair, as almost every detail of the wedding was either designed, conceptualized, or implemented by family and friends. This wedding was so endearing that I even got teary eyed a time or two.
Surprise 1: Write your own wedding vows!
As commonplace as this ideas is in just about every RomCom (romantic comedy) movie out there you would be surprised just how irregular it is in real weddings. How sweet would it be to see your significant other's face light up when they hear you recite your own heartfelt vows or read a special love poem. Hint: if you decide to do this be sure to keep it quiet, so prepare some common vows for the rehearsal. That way you are sure to truly surprise your new spouse on your big day.
Surprise 2: Invite a distant friend!
Whether it is a competing event on the same day, or being unable to make the trip, there will always be someone you or your spouse really want at your wedding who will be unable to make it. This is the perfect opportunity to set up a spectacular surprise such as organizing travel fares for that loved one or recording a special message from the missing party. We happened to witness one such wedding surprise and let us say the shock and tears were so moving we wont soon forget it.
Surprise 3: Surprise wedding entertainment!
This one is sure to make your loved one's jaw drop when they see their favorite band or performer appear on stage. Ok, lets not go over board and think booking Beyoncé or Cirque du Soleil is a realistic goal, but don't under-estimate the power of tribute bands or local acts. Any kind of unexpected performance is sure to shock and delight as much as any else. It could be as simple as hiring a harpist of jazz band to play during the cocktail hour.
Yes, that is a monogram framed succulent masterpiece at the sweetheart table. Do you love?
Surprise 4: Wedding guest flash mob!
You should know this is our absolute favorite and guess what, neither Matt or Shannan were expecting the choreographed surprise dance by 40+ of their wedding guests! Super fun! even if you have some hesitant dancers among the guests there are still some very fun ways for the guests to surprise the bride and groom. Give each guest a card with a letter on it, at a determined time they will hold them up and reveal a message to the love birds. Or, quietly request your wedding guests wear something in the wedding colors (clothing, hair, accessory, or tie). Think of the slow reveal as guests begin to trickle in plus it will have a great impact on your wedding photographs!
