20s Inspired Glam Wedding In An Old Bank

Elegant bride and groom embracing in soft, romantic wedding portrait

We love a themed wedding, but there is a fine line between using the theme as inspiration and letting it take control of the wedding design. This couple walked that line just right with their 20s inspired fête. With subtle nods to their inspiration like deco motifs, a vintage venue, and beautiful beaded ensembles, the 20s inspiration came through without being overpowering–it was still very much a modern wedding. This couple also decided to forgo traditional floral arrangments and opted for trees and fruit to add texture and dimension to the design.

The Refined Host worked closely with the couple to execute their vision and the end result was nothing short of perfection! The day started with a stunning church ceremony at Saint Mark's Church and then the celebration moved to The Admiral Room, a cool vintage venue that was once a bank. Williams Florist had their work cut out for them when the couple shared their aversion to traditional florals, but that didn't stop them. We love these floral alternatives! Seventh Arrow Studio captured these beautiful photos of the couple and their nearest and dearest. We love the subtle hints to the past in a few of their portrait poses. You can see all the photos from this wedding in the full gallery. Keep reading to hear from Daulton of The Refined Host, about how they turned this couple's vision into a reality.

A CUSTOM VISION

Wedding ceremony in a beautiful church, bride and groom at altar

Kelsey, a Wellness Consultant & Fitness Instructor, and Andrew, a Product Specialist for Biotech Company, wanted a blow-out, 1920s-inspired wedding reception at a beautifully restored bank-turned event space, now called The Admiral Room. Kelsey partnered with custom wedding dress design start-up, Anamolie, where she was able to completely customize a dress to her vision. Incorporating lots of beading and art deco patterns was very important to her. In lieu of a veil, she donned a floor-length sheer cape with a train as she walked down the aisle clutching a very sentimental family handkerchief.

A FLORAL ALTERNATIVE

Since the couple wasn’t crazy about flowers, the reception design included tall tree-like centerpieces with gold compotes filled with dark purple plums and berries and fresh potted herbs. Tall candelabras with hanging crystals and long tables filled with candles enclosed in glass were other dinner table designs. At the end of the night, Kelsey changed into a strapless, white sequin jumpsuit to finish off the party!
