The real same-sex couple in this shoot had just been married a few months before and were thrilled to participate. You can see their happiness and genuine joy come through in the images. The shoot is full of personalized details for the couple, including calligraphy with their names on the drink bottles along with the saying "always love is love" and also the invitation suite which was tailored for them.
The Historic Post Office is a unique historical venue located in downtown Hampton, VA. Completed in 1914, The Historic Post Office was designed during the Beaux-Arts architectural period and served for many decades as the largest U.S. Post Office in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area. Now, it is one of the most popular wedding venues. The Post Office wanted an inspiration shoot that showed their support of marriage and love for all couples.
Citrus fruits of all kinds, fresh and dried were used throughout the decor and paired with a citrus ombre floral theme that moves down the table and is used throughout the shoot. These images are full of natural light and brightness. Accents of blue patterned linen and antique porcelain pieces were paired with all the smile-inducing color and fruit.
he invitation suite is a botanical citrus theme, with handmade paper and custom white calligraphy. The stamps, color choices, and accents were all specifically chosen for this stationery and paired with florals and bespoke flat lay props for the photography.
There are many delicate styling choices I made in this editorial but I wanted to make sure some masculine features were also present to represent our grooms. Wood chargers and heavier velvet navy napkins were used in the table settings along with His + His vow books!
I am such a fan of watercolor painting as a designer. So you will almost always see some detail in my styling that involves that medium. For this shoot, the place card leaves on the little lemons are hand-painted with white calligraphy lettering. I really love that this is an all-male shoot! Something you don't see very often. But the styling and decor is something everyone can take inspiration from.
