There is something nostalgic about old cars, they have their own romantic old world vibes that can make you long for an era gone by. So when Ivory & Vine Event Co. happened to see this classic 54 Buick driving around town they knew they had to create 1950's wedding inspiration that featured that very car at the white washed barn of The White Sparrow. And just like that, this You Drive Me Vintage Car Crazy, A Retro Wedding Inspiration was born!
So find out what's buzzin' cousin, and keep scrolling to learn why this inspiration was so special to the bride and groom models, and to find tons of great ways to play with a retro vibe for your big day! You can see every last photo from Jenny McCann when you visit the full gallery as well, so don't miss a single detail.
This vintage wedding styled shoot was inspired by a classic 1954 Buick Skylark. Jenny McCann, our photographer, spotted the car driving one day in her neighborhood. Since then, she dreamt of a way to tie in the elegance of a wedding at the White Sparrow Barn with the fun, vintage design of the classic car.
Our venue, The White Sparrow, provided an incredible blank canvas to make our own. This barn, perfectly nestled along the outskirts of Dallas, provides the feeling of a grand reception while still maintaining the integrity of a quaint, country barn. The bright, neutral space perfectly accommodated our color palette of deep pinks, blush, bold and pale yellows, and cream.
Jenny McCann captured the setting effortlessly through the use of film. From the grainy, black and white boudoir session to the bright, ethereal sunset shots, Jenny perfectly told the story of Brandon and Elizabeth, a couple who were married just before the groom was called to duty for the U.S. Military. This classic wedding shoot was the wedding shoot they never had, due to their time apart while Brandon was deployed.
We + You provided the lush, stunning floral display. The asymmetrical garland full of blooms was strung across the White Sparrow Barn doors to make a sweet ceremony setup, and their cascading bridal bouquet gave the perfect nod to the 50’s.
The stationery suite provided by Blue Eye Brown Eye gave us so many fun details to play with. From the watercolor escort cards with loose, scripty calligraphy to the custom signature drink menu, Blue Eye Brown Eye added an entirely different element of fun and color.
We were thrilled to feature a stunning vintage gown from Gossamer. The gold beading and intricate details made this dress so truly unique. This gown was perfectly accessorized with a gorgeous vintage flower-diamond ring from Trumpet & Horn.
