Even as things slowly return to normal, couples are still opting for smaller guest lists, and here's why: More intimate affairs free up more room in your budget for fun over-the-top decor and experiences like floral installations and plated dinners with wine pairings, the list goes on and on. Couples are focusing more on the wedding experience itself rather than the size of the celebration. A smaller guest list also opens up your venue options and makes renting an entire estate, like this one, a very real possibility.
This team, led by Fleur Detroit Events, set out to showcase this unique Michigan venue and show how elegant a smaller wedding can be. They went all-in on the styling, with the bride and groom both decked out from head to toe in designer looks. Fleur Detroit Events also created these stunning pastel floral arrangements that give the beautifully manicured grounds of the Alger Estate a touch of whimsy. Alicia Frances Photography took these stunning bright photos and captures the effortless elegance of this unique location. Situated on the grounds of the historic Alger Estate and located on the shores of Lake Saint Clair, Michigan, The Grosse Pointe War Memorial is a legacy-filled institution. The spacious Italian Renaissance-style home was built in 1910 for Russell A. Alger, Jr. and his family and designed by architect Charles A. Platt of New York. The stately house and gardens were designed together, creating an exceptional event space.
Buttery pastel florals mixed with the incredible Mila Nova gown blend with the timeless backdrop. The collaboration with Fleur Detroit Events and the inspiration for this styled bridal editorial is a romantic yet refined shoot that harkens to the grandness of the Italian countryside. We wanted to take it one step further with a dress and location change to create a stylish, chic getaway. The palette of apricot roses, pale mauves, and greens plays well against the French doors and stucco walls that encircle the couple in their enchanted garden giving a nod to the past.
Fin de Siecle Grassin and an Arras-style iron table and chairs created the perfect intimate setting and landscape for a couple seeking a quiet yet detailed affair. The classic yet straightforward cake, adorned with gentle florals and perched upon a gold stand, accents the shoot perfectly. The handmade invitation suite and place setting cards achieved an artisanal feel, while the delicate penmanship of the calligraphy maintained an air of elegance. The second home was a horse stable converted to a family residence and is as beautiful as the grand estate. The gorgeous red MG convertible is sporty and added a punch to close out the day. If you are dreaming of an intimate wedding be as bold, decadent, and artistic as you want.
