This styled photoshoot was inspired by the brand new venue and incredible 20-acre ranch in the Sierra Valley's small town of Beckwourth, California, The Lost Marbles Ranch! Family owned and operated, the very first wedding to take place in the ranch's barn was the daughter of owners, Dick and Chris. Five years later they knew it was too good to be kept to themselves and decided to open as a venue to share with others on their wedding day!
The ranch can accommodate up to 250 people for a barn wedding with chandeliers, string lighting, and a full stage. At the ranch, they can even host overnight guests for camping and small music festivals. For our styled photo session at this amazing venue, we decided to include the best elements of a Western-style wedding, with real cowboys (in a swanky cowboy bar), a friendly horse, local children, and a romantic cake with creative florals to swoon over!
One bride was not enough to show off the Western and Boho-style dresses from the always amazing Swoon Bridal Salon, so we decided to have no less than THREE brides! The bridal fashions from our local shop spotlight designers Rue De Seine, Rish, and Vagabond. Perfectly styled by designer and stylist Christine Malin of Styling Maison. The team members who made this photoshoot successful were all local vendors who came together with the same spirit as an old-fashioned barn raising!
Love And Lupines, as Sierra-born florist provided the beautiful floral arrangements, including the "piece de resistance," a grand bouquet featuring antlers sourced from natural deer sheds. Rebel Pioneer Bakery, the creator of the cake adorned with recycled Indian Sari silk to perfectly coordinate with the colors of the Beckwourth western sunset. Photographer Joy Strotz, who is regularly featured in fashion editorials and adores photographing weddings ranging from backyard to big-time, captured every part of the session with her cinematic style.
This session was a celebration from beginning to end. And yes - all of us were lucky enough to share in that DELICIOUS cake before the night was over! To be perfectly honest, this venue is SO perfect for hosting an outdoor, socially distanced event - small or large. And the warmth and hospitality of owners Dick & Chris will leave clients looking for reasons to come back for more!
