Classic white and green is a go-to colour for destination bride’s today, especially in the Mediterranean against that azure blue sea. So we thought to shake it up a little and use these colours in a modern tropical wedding theme. Greys and greens pair beautifully along the minimal tablescape, meanwhile greenery leaf centrepieces pose a unique alternative to classic florals.
Just because the guest count is smaller, the style and scheme doesn’t have to be undersized. In fact, a luxury micro wedding can come with even bolder design, and we opted for a free-standing ceremony arch made totally from greenery, blending tropical monstera leaves with locally sourced rubber plant leaves. It makes a statement without detracting from that stunning view.
The bare, concrete skimmed wooden tables, bronze metal chairs, and stoneware crockery with copious amounts of tropical foliage and touches of grey in the stationery and linen, set within the stunning backdrop of the balcony, reflects the concept perfectly.
We choose stoneware with a reactive glaze in earthy, green, taupe and brown tones. Each piece has an entirely unique finish, with attractive bubbling and speckling. The clean lines of the perspex place names with hand calligraphy by Millie Stone completed the design.
The centrepieces were a mix of Aspidistra and Areca palm leaves mixed with baby rubber plants in concrete pots and plenty of glass candles for a magical atmosphere. More abundant greenery styled a backdrop for the double-tiered simple white cake from Patisserie Il Sapore.
In selecting Veranda as the setting, a private area at one of our favourite venues, we gave this micro wedding inspiration an intimate feel. As the events of the wedding unfolds the guests would move from the ceremony to the cocktail bar for drinks, then to the table overlooking the sea at all times enjoying the feeling of being at an exclusive event.
Our dress design was based on bridal separates which are perfect for the modern bride who wants a stylish take on the traditional wedding dress. We commissioned a pale green bridal skirt with short train cut on the bias for movement and paired it with a white camisole. With endless combinations, the wedding day look can be perfectly tailored to your destination’s climate.
The second look, a minimalist white jumpsuit with a tailored silhouette, is always a good idea especially for a micro wedding and is modern and effortlessly chic. As the main outfit or simply to change for the more relaxed part of the evening after dinner, a bridal jumpsuit strikes the perfect balance between modern and romantic.
Loose waves and natural makeup by Despoina Kourbei flattered both outfits as did our choice of an heirloom necklace and metallic heels.
