Though we are planning a fabulous celebration in Palm Springs for 2022, Amy and Nicole approached me about eloping at the end of 2020. With the current state of the world: pandemic, politics, you name it - they honestly could not wait another day to be married!
I was in the midst of planning + designing a mini shoot at The Stonehurst to round out a year that made small creative projects close to non existent and suggested that the couple “model” for my shoot + get married on the same day. The first part of the shoot would be dedicated to their vows and elopement and then we could “play” afterwards with a small table design, florals, and a fun + festive outfit change. Amy and Nicole were in and we set our sights and plans to December 28th.
Lets remember we were trying to plan something in 2020 so of course (!) our plans changed. Not only were Los Angeles’s COVID numbers climbing rapidly, we were expecting a torrential downpour on our shoot date. Needless to say we postponed the shoot and the couple decided to travel down to Palm Springs to be married in Nicole’s parent’s backyard.
Fast forward to a New Year and we decided that we still needed to celebrate Nicole and Amy saying I Do. And a celebration it was! I styled Amy in a full mauve tulle robe gown from Desert Love Gowns and scored a chic cropped two piece sequin suit from Zara for Nicole. The pocket square boutonniere that Lovesome Blossoms created was the perfect pop of color against Nicole’s white tuxedo jacket from Asos (the same jacket she wore at her elopement) and Amy’s lush “disco” like waves and blush inspired makeup from Makeup Therapy felt not only relaxed but high fashion as well.
I designed the table to be both petite and packed with detail. The individual floral place settings via Lovesome Blossoms were some of my favorite details of the day. Fun fact: We fell in love with the Burgundy fern leaves so much, that we dyed more leaves on site to increase the look! Styled in The Stonehurst’s Bamboo Garden, our pops of pinks, golds, and tumeric really shined. I wanted a bright and vibrant color palette to be attainable - by styling these brighter colors with a neutral place setting, like white ceramic plates and Acacia wood chargers from La Pinata Party Rentals, the colors and centerpieces really got to be the highlight of the table.
