There’s something magical about the chance to travel to an amazing place and fulfill a bit of wanderlust. Each element of this day was inspired by the tastes and sights of the French countryside, and guests would experience it as an extension of the couple’s cherished memories.
This shoot’s color palette was inspired by the rolling fields of France and features poppy red, lavender, sage green, fig, buttercream yellow and ivory. With everything from the romantic and organic setting, to the 'bon appetit' inspired food and favors, this inspiration shoot gives you a taste of France that is unlike any other! Have guests write wedding wishes and have them place them in a super cute basket.
We were initially inspired by the desire to capture that sentiment in an intimate wedding and celebration of life, travel, food, and memories together through a “Taste of France.” When we discovered the Autrey Mill Nature Preserve, we immediately saw the vision of a French-inspired shoot take shape. Martha McIntosh Creative Consulting brought the palette to life through gorgeous florals that rivaled the beauty of any field in France and floral chargers made of olive branches and sprigs of fresh lavender. We wanted to incorporate the flavors of France into each place setting, so the olive branches, lavender, and fig name cards showcase those details perfectly.
Additionally, each of the colors in the shoot not only is pleasing to the eye, but also to the palette. And there is nothing better for the palette than homemade, local, and organic food to commemorate an occasion such as this. Partnering with a local caterer Two French Hens, the inspiration shoot served the finest of French-inspired foods created by a woman who spent her childhood in France. Featured food included a cheese board with fruit, flatbread, with arugula and olives, tomato tarts, roasted grape crostini, berry tarts and croquembouche - a traditional French wedding cake made of cream puffs and caramel spun around the cake.
Alongside these delicious items, guests would drop their favorite handwritten recipe in the basket on the antique bar per the request of the couple in their stationery suite. These “bon appetit” cards would kick off the couple’s culinary adventures in their new life together. Finally, the Cranberry Lavender Fizz signature cocktail added the perfect sparkle to the day with cranberry juice, lavender syrup and French champagne. At the end of the evening, guests would depart with their choice of lavender, lemon or rosemary infused olive oils as a favor to further their cooking at home.
