The inspiration for this shoot came from The Barn at High Point Farms, a Southern wedding venue located in Flintstone, GA. A family farm wedding venue with an authentic barn and vintage farmhouse. The perfect place to bring Hankering's event designer Sarah Ervin's vision to life. A wedding that represented family and getting back to our roots.
In the south, our grandparents used their hands to make a living, growing their own food and taking it straight to their own table. Sarah's grandmother's main ingredients were heart, soul, and a good helping of hard work. Read on to see how they brought this southern farm style wedding interpretation to life. As always you can see every last photo in the full gallery here, all photographed by Bamber Photography.
From HankeringTo create a visual interpretation of this, we wanted an intimate setting which the farm lent itself nicely to. Being a working farm, it graciously portrayed the beauty of a family working together. We wanted a rustic feel with a touch of whimsy.
This paired perfectly with the fig, our second inspiration, because of its beautiful, deep purple outside, almost surprisingly pop of color inside, and dainty shape. We sought warm colors throughout, from the floral design to the creams and overflow of brass. The Laverne Gown from BHLDN dress gave us the amount of ethereal we were looking for
We chose to have an appetizer reception with figs, olives, dried okra, paired with local meats and cheese for a real casual feel. We wanted a variety of sweet options; our butter cream spice cake, pumpkin cupcakes, and the cinnamon blackberry tart. We also had locally made fig preserves as our favors which reflects our "made with love" concept.
A little bit about The Barn at High Point FarmA family farm wedding venue with an authentic barn and vintage farmhouse nestled in the shadow of Lookout Mountain. The large rustic pole barn has been transformed into a magical wedding venue strewn with lights and draped with large white curtains. The old weathered barn wood and large tin doors create a rustic backdrop to your event. The farm has gardens, groves, and pastures full of goats and horses. It embraces the mood of a past era where life was simple and the atmosphere genuine.
