Colorful Luxury Paper
While it wasn't practical to haul a dinner table up the gondola for this wedding inspiration shoot, I did bring on Toronto luxury paper goods designer A Good Day, Inc. to provide a hint of how the other design elements could come together for a playful, colorful wedding in the mountains.
Founder Jordan presented us with a mix of natural and glam elements to complement the vision. Neutral kraft paper envelopes are lined with shimmering gold as a rainbow of color streaks across the invitation card.
Whimsical calligraphy bounces across the stationery, letting guests know this is an event where their playful sides can shine. A delicate white silk ribbon speckled with blue and tangerine evokes the snowy landscape and punchy accessories.
BRIDAL LOOKS
The views from Aspen Mountain steal your breath with their splendor; miles of snowcapped evergreens tumble down a never-ending landscape of dramatic mountain slopes. For a moment, sugary snowflakes fall from a frosted gray sky. In an instant, the clouds part to reveal a blinding sliver of sunlight that sets the snow afire. This is comfort. This is drama. This is why the mountains call to us and remind us that we're alive.
Against this backdrop, models donned effervescent, voluminous gowns by playful designer Claire LaFaye. One, a lilac lace dream with an asymmetrical neckline and billowing sleeves, brought a flirty and feminine feel to the surroundings. The other, a cotton candy concoction with a classic sweetheart neckline, was set ablaze with a fiery nectarine scarf.
Wedding Florals
Jamie of State and Arrow
had possibly the most difficult task of all: creating beautiful blooms in sub-freezing temperatures. She handcrafted monochromatic bouquets in purple and nectarine hues immediately before shooting, and carefully held them upside down for the blooms to freeze in place.
For couples planning real winter weddings in the mountains, Jamie offers practical advice: "Always order a backup bouquet for the bride!"
Makeup and Hair
Makeup artist Angela of Aspen Glam added touches of bold lavender and tangerine hues to the makeup to add a dose of personality, and bridal hair artist Ana Belen integrated glamorous waves and curls to keep the looks elevated and timeless.
