Rococo Romance: A Blue Wedding Inspired by François Boucher’s Art

This editorial is inspired by the 18th century painter François Boucher’s work, "Jupiter & Callisto." Considered a Rococo masterpiece, the painting depicts Jupiter & Callisto in a forest with beautiful variations of blue and emerald which served as the basis for our concept. In regards the design, it was important for us to compose with textures and elements consistent with the 18th century we wanted to modernize. We decided to create an inspiration shoot that combined the refinement and poetry inspired by this work in which Jupiter wishes to seduce the beautiful Callisto. The elegant and extravagant blue dress of Millia London is a callback to the blue that is very present in the Rococo style. The blue color of the wedding dress symbolized in the past in France and especially in the 18th century the purity and fidelity. The intimate Chateau Le Buisson Garembourg with its garden "à la Française" was the perfect setting for this editorial. Just one hour from Paris, this castle built in 1620 is a magical place where refined luxury and respect for tradition are delicately combined.

Our couple looked young aristocratic, romantic, fashion-forward, cultured, and passionate. Early in the morning, the bride discovered an ornate calligraphy love letter from her future husband who came to meet her. A very beautiful and intimate ceremony was organized in the main alley of the castle. Floral arches constituted a romantic and aesthetic decoration for celebrating their union.

A festive and floral reception table was set up in front of the castle. For the wedding stationery, we chose the Lettering By Grg collection inspired by the Chateau Le Buisson Garembourg. The stationery created offers a romantic and elegant design in line with the blue atmosphere we were looking for. The calligraphy in the wedding stationery pieces as well as the gold accents are also reminiscent of the shapes found in the Rococo style. We chose from Maison Artaner the exclusive and poetic engagement ring highlighting the majestic beauty of the bluish green sapphire.

The color palette used by the florist, focused on white and green, is a subtle reminder of French elegance and a good way to sublimate the blue color of the dress and details of the wedding such as the wedding cake and the reception table. The reception table has been set with pastel blue napkins, gold-edged plates and sophisticated cream chairs.

At the end of the day, the couple discovered their sublime wedding cake. Combining pastel blue and white, this cake by Amandine Meloni combined refinement and modernism. It was at that point that it was the perfect time for our couple to enjoy the late afternoon sun before their departure for new adventures.
