Canmore, Alberta is nestled in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Much like the more renown neighboring town of Banff, Canmore is also popular for destination weddings. With small town charm and scenic mountain views, it’s no surprise that couples from all over the world get married here. It’s not just visitors, that seek to get married in the mountains, but also local couples who live and work nearby.
A perk of living in the area is knowing where to find hidden gems of solace. Grassi Lakes in Kananaskis is one such spot. It is close to the town of Canmore and frequented by the locals. It’s a place to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the mountains. It’s also the perfect place for a small intimate elopement.
From Naturally Chic: I pictured a local, mountain-loving couple as the inspiration for our styled mountain shoot that was beautifully captured by Milton Photography. I designed the tablescape using a color palette that mirrored the scenery. Soft hues of blues and gray blended seamlessly into the landscape to create an elegant, picnic style reception. Simple, romantic and uncomplicated. A wood table was covered with a linen cloth and surrounded by simple wooden benches. Organic white china plates, vintage blue glassware and place cards made from slate rock completed the natural look. Willow Flower Co. added simple flowers of blue hydrangeas, thistles, and greenery as well as pink Protea for pops of color. For a modern look, concrete and geometric glass vessels were used.
Not much decor was needed for a private ceremony by the shores of a mountain lake. Willow Flower Co. created a small arc of flowers using foraged greenery such as “Wolf” Willow that is found in the area. The wedding cake, from Kake in Canmore, was left decidedly simple. The rice paper edging mimicked the jagged rock face of the area.
Industry Hair and Makeup created a simple, half up, half down hairstyle for our natural, no-fuss bride. Soft, subtle shades of pink were used for the bride's make-up to complete the natural look.
