Romantic Vow Exchange at Shenandoah National Park

Happy couple embracing on a jeep, wedding day

When Apke photography started looking for the couple to model for the styled elopement, she knew she wanted a real couple in love and not models. Apke photography brought a team together to create an elopement with a spectacular mountain overlook in Shenandoah National Park.  A Jeep and a beautiful adventurous couple whose plans got ruined by Covid19 were the perfect ingredients for a breathtaking exchange of vows.

The edgy elopement stationery was created by Script for Veronica and Zoey Devine. You'll see rentals provided by Bride and Joy Rental, a cake by Sifthouse and catering by Filippo's Deli. Be sure to see all the images in the full gallery.

C&M were just perfect for this, beautiful and young. I later discovered another reason that pushed me to choose them. They had some big plans for their wedding day in June, but with M family coming from Brazil and Covid-19 outbreak, they had to change plans and ended up getting married at the courthouse. No big party, no stunning pictures of their beautiful faces… And then I realized that I didn’t need to look for the couple any further. They were going to model for me and exchange vows on top of the mountains!

The vows exchange day started in a beautiful cabin of the Skyland resort in the heart of Shenandoah National Park, where M wore a bohemian dress signed by “All Who Wander” from Amanda's Touch Bridal light modern and romantic.

Makeup by Kristin Mastrangelo highlighted M eyes using the palette with the characteristic Virginia fall colors, reflected also in the cake’s decorations. Since the National Park required a permit for any type of setup, we wanted to show future couples that it is possible to have a chic picnic elopement using material that can fit in a box!

Therefore, after C&M got ready together, we set one of the tables provided from the park, to host the fine-looking couple! Using the items rented by Wedding and Joy, we were able to coordinate a rustic and still elegant setting, where green forest meets brown tones, where goblets meet copper cups, with fine china plates and typical apples from Virginia.  These colors reflect also in the bouquet with antique rose roses and ears of gold.

After their picnic, C&M head to the location spot chose for their ceremony. Here they first decided to cut the impressive cake created by SIFThouse on top of their Jeep. We were all expecting to attend one of the spectacular sunset Shenandoah usually offers, but instead, we had a grey day, that enhanced the colors of the blue ridge mountains.

Getting on top of the rocks to declare each other love wasn’t as easy as we planned, due to the fast-growing grass… they had to do a little climbing, but the dress was perfect for it. It’s soft and light material allowed M to move easily.

C wrote a long letter to M, declaring his deep love, something unexpected by M, which vows were short and sweet, so we all had a good laugh about it! Meanwhile, the sun went down and we decided to enjoy our Jeep little bit longer for some night shots, celebrating popping the champagne and, of course, lighting sparklers!
