From Mina von Feilitzsch Photography: Delicate flowers arc over soft blue cloth, cascading linen, and natural wood, as the candles' glow speaks to times long gone from this space - to gatherings, dinners, and dances below the soaring ceilings and faded walls of Montfort Hall. This stunning Italianate mansion has stood in Raleigh, North Carolina since 1860. Elegant, faded, and untouched in perhaps a decade, the beautiful old house has just begun its journey to a new life under the guiding hands of Sarah and Jeff Shepherd, who envision a boutique inn and gathering space amongst the many columns and staircases.
Just before the plunge into this new season of restoration, Mina von Feilitzsch Photography designed this romantic, Italian inspired bridal editorial as a tribute to the aged romance of the space. With only two weeks to create this shoot before serious restoration began on the interior, Mina worked to create a design that would highlight the European roots of the mansion's origin and showcase a dreamy, vintage bridal style not frequently found in the center of this North Carolina city. Each detail was chosen for the bride who dreams of old-world elegance for her wedding - whether that’s in Italy or steps from a bustling American downtown. In a city of such beautiful diversity, it was important to create inclusive inspiration that felt personal and designed for brides and couples of color, and Andre'a Hopkins, the stunning model, was the perfect bride for the envisioned editorial.
A dusty blue linen tablecloth was draped over the long gathering table and luxuriously accented with golden utensils, gold-rimmed glassware, and architectural and gold geometric table settings from CE Rentals that nodded to the elegant structures of the ceiling and detail work within Montfort Hall. Taupe linen napkins from Silk and Willow were tied with ribbon from Frou Frou Chic, adding an element of femininity that contrasted delicately with the heavy, columnlike design of the chargers. A lovely runner in a warm, gauzy gray cascaded below the candlesticks from Homemade Bride - creating a gentle river for the eye to travel along. Anchoring the design of the table, an expressive floral arrangement in vintage tones by Mood Fleuriste stands gracefully, elegant in form and with a color palette to match the romantic atmosphere of the shoot.
