The Roaring Twenties were an era of social, artistic and cultural dynamism. It marked a period of time when major metropolitan centers around the world were embracing a new culture following the end of World War I. This era was a break from traditions, where new technologies and trends emerged and practicality in daily life subsided for some time. Societies embraced new ideas, and activities like jazz and dancing, and moving pictures and radio marked considerable advances that would forever change the world.
Rachel Peters Photography collaborated with event coordinator Kiss the Bride to share with these roaring twenties wedding ideas. You can see more of this inspiration shoot in the full gallery by clicking here.
The spirit and intrigue of the Roaring Twenties was alive and well in a recent photo shoot in Prince Edward Island with an intimate wedding at Sim’s Corner Steakhouse and Oyster Bar. Known as the a premier dining location in the heart of Prince Edward Island, this beautifully restored three storey brick building was the original property of Thomas and Charlotte Alchogn Sims which dates back to 1806. The inviting interior blends a mix of rustic elegance with intimate sophistication.
Prince Edward Island is Canada’s smallest province nestled on Canada’s east coast. With a population of approximately 141,000 residents, PEI is the 104th largest island in the world, and Canada’s 23rd largest island. PEI has developed a reputation for its natural beauty of rolling hills, reddish white sand beaches, ocean waves and famous red soil. PEI is home to many rural seaside communities and Charlottetown, the birthplace of Confederation, the largest urban area.
PEI is a tourism destination that hosts numerous events throughout the year. Known for its collection of niche venues, world class food and hospitality, there are endless possibilities for weddings or special events. To recreate the feel for the 1920s social, artistic and cultural dynamism, this shoot combined the talents of several vendors that collaborated on these details and replicated an intimate Island wedding.
