Weddings are a sweet and beautiful day, but that certainly shouldn't limit you to a soft and muted color palette. Danielle Coons Photography teamed up with Nancy Harvey Events & Planning and a whole team of talented vendors to show you just what moody and rich colors could do for your big day! We have to say we are total fans.
Hightailing it about 2-hours outside the hustle of NYC there is a gorgeous sprawling farm with a gorgeous home-grown garden, and a beautiful antique barn which was the setting for our shoot.
Inspired by the desire to show couples how a 'farm/barn/rustic' setting can be transformed into something dramatic and contemporary, our creative team created a shoot which highlighted jewel-tones and forged greenery! We wanted to explore the idea of moving far beyond pastels and soft colors to show how deep, rich, moody colors can just as joyful, elegant and beautiful!
Katharine Brown at Fox Hill Farm is not only one of the owners, she is also an incredibly talented florist. Using several of the flowers and greenery grown right there on her homestead, Katharine lead the charge in creating an incredible tablescape which juxtaposed textures, colors, and height to create an interesting and inspiring space for our couple to share a romantic dinner.
Chippy White Table, a local vintage rental company, offered some brass animals, incredible goblets and other vintage elements which truly added to the whimsical nature of our story.
Summersault Press dreamed up an elegant and contemporary design for the stationary suite which highlighted incredibly different textured papers, subtle letterpress and the most gorgeous of gold-foiling accents. Tin Can Creative Co. used their elegant hand-lettering skills to masterfully add some modern calligraphy to the envelopes.
When exploring some of the 50 acres Fox Hill is on, you’ll notice this cute little cottage which was create as a space for the bride to get ready in. Wanting to make that both the bride and groom had a ‘getting ready’ location, Fox Hill then created a leather-clad man cave, appropriately named the “Fox Den” for the guys to hang out in before the ceremony! The moment we saw this space, we knew we wanted to highlight this unique concept.
Inspired by the masculine textures in the “Fox Den” we teamed up with Duvall Leatherwork who created these handmade leather growler holders as an incredibly different and unique idea for groomsmen gifts! We just loved how these masculine elements brought a depth and a richness to the story!
Of course a shining light throughout our whole shoot was our beautiful bride, who was adorned with two different BHLDN dresses. Courtney from Bridal Hair by Courtney and Anna from Utopia Spa did an amazing job giving our bride two different yet incredibly beautiful looks throughout the day.
Starting with a soft, feminine, romantic look, we wanted the boldness of the bouquet created by Fox Hill to stand out against her softer bridal look. We ended the day by giving our bride a more refined, elegant updo and a bold lip color for an evening reception look!
