Vintage Tea Party: Engagement & Rehearsal Dinner Ideas & Inspiration

Happy bride and groom embracing at their outdoor wedding

Celebrate your engagement or rehearsal dinner with an outdoor vintage tea party. If don't have a whole set of mis-matched vintage china, you might have to do a bit of thrifting. Luckily whatever you purchase, you can use again in your new home. Of course another option is to contact your local vintage rental company.

Kate Grewal and Yeshe Dawa designed this lovely outdoor vintage tea party using only a few key elements to create a relaxed and darling event. Peek in the gallery to see all the images and read on to learn a few tips and tricks.

Simple and Charming Ideas:
Line the table with kraft paper and fancy them up by using a runner. Vintage dollies can get pricey if you have several tables. A great and cost effective option is purchasing a thick piece of lace fabric from the fabric store. Simply cut it in half to create a table runner. It will be held in place easily by all the goodies on the table.
We also love the idea of tying a small ribbon and flower around the cutlery. It adds another little touch that literally ties everything together. Be sure to use a flower that will easily hold it's shape.
Use the extra kraft paper from your tablecloth for place cards. Cut a small square and write your guests name in pencil to give it a rustic feeling. Bonus! If you mess up you can just erase. To dress it up, place it over a few springs of lavender and place on top of the napkin. Incredibly easy and adds that personal touch.
Another great idea is painting an old milk crate white, giving it a bit more of a polished look. Tie a velvet bow around it (velvet will not slip as easily and hold it's structure). Line the crate up with mason jars or small vintage milk bottles and fill them with refreshing lemonade or cucumber water. Display this on a stack of old suitcases or a small table. Such an easy touch that guests will appreciate.
Dress your bread! Wrap the individual rolls it in  kraft paper and tie it with twine. Add a spring of your favorite herb and those plain rolls are now fancy.
