From Costamagna Design: This haunting building designed by Frederick Law Olmsted used to be a mental hospital in Buffalo, New York. It was built in 1872 and ran as a full functioning mental hospital until 1975. Hotel Henry officially re-opened on April 30, 2017, as a new urban resort. The exterior and beautifully renovated interior was the main inspiration for this wedding shoot.
Ashley Rains Photography wanted to bring a romantic feel to this space but also reflect on the dark and eerie history of the hotel. The fall tones complimented the dark wood interior and the ivy-covered stone walls as well as the light, soft details, and rich tones.
The whole shoot was photographed on medium format film. Using film adds another layer of texture to the setting and reflects back to the history of this old world architecture. We are very excited to showcase this new hotel and wedding venue!
