Inspired directly by the venue, Blackfriars Medieval Priory - a former Medieval Monastery, we wanted to achieve a fresh, chic and elegant wedding look that took further inspiration from a modern Italian celebration. This talented team took a neutral color palette and paired it with trailing florals by Twisted Sister that appeared to grow from the old building and dried flower meadows on the tables. Doing this, they were able to compliment the beautiful, historic-rich stone that surrounded our bride in her stunning, stand-out Berta gowns.
The Unbridled was there to capture all the fun details, Meros Productions to film, and Rebecca Marie Weddings & Events planned every detail. You can see all the images in the full gallery. Be sure to keep scrolling and read all the details of the shoot from Rebecca Marie Weddings & Events.
Pops of bright white highlighted and completed the styling while using reclaimed stone for place names and hand made ceramics by Every Story created texture upon texture. The finer details such as the delicate rings, handwritten vows by Finger and Thumb and trio of cakes by Cake Daydreams worked hand in hand to achieve a cohesive, high-end yet totally achievable look for the style conscious, modern bride. We wanted to showcase that a venue steeped in history can provide the most gorgeous back-drop to a chic, luxury and very up-to-date wedding.
This styled shoot was inspired by the venue itself, an old Medieval Monastery with extremely high ceilings, a Mediterranean feel and history oozing from its stone walls. The couple was crazy in love and a luxury destination wedding vibe was what we had in mind. The Bride stunned in Berta gowns and the space really allowed for some grand and opulent styling in the way of modern jewelry by Erin Cox Jewellery and The Vamoose, glam Hollywood waves and stylish groomswear.
With the most exquisite venue, steeped in history and full of old texture and rustic charm, the floral decor by Twisted Sister was kept beautifully simple and elegant with a hint of luxury. Tablescapes were made up of many layers of delicate dried flowers and grasses, the freshest of garden roses and trailing vines that sat alongside handcrafted ceramics and textiles to compliment the space. The suspended lanterns were very much needed alongside the high ceilings in order to draw the eyes down to the reception setting of dreams.
The feature fireplace was elegantly decorated giving an ethereal look where delicate stems danced in the lightest of breezes and the old stone wall of the upper floor was draped with abundant arrangements of fragrant roses and seasonal flowers in a palette mix of whites and neutrals, demonstrating how stunning a neutral wedding palette can be.
The three individual cakes by Cake Daydreams complimented one another on top of their modern, mesh towers and provided a refreshing pop of white against the gorgeous stone. With handwritten vows, handmade stationery and hand-hammered rings there were subtle nods to the history of the old monks at the Monastery itself. Much thought went into the details of this shoot and there were plenty of DIY projects along the way including the concrete bases for the dried flower meadows, each suspended lantern hand tied and even the napkins and runners hand dyed.
A labor of love designed to inspire Brides that a luxe Mediterranean vibe can be achieved with a gorgeous historic and carefully considered styling.
