Rad Red Creative decided to get a talented group together to create something unique and fun and also feel a little sense of normalcy. It's so important for creatives to have an outlet since they aren’t able to do weddings as express themselves as usual.

When creating the color palette we wanted something that doesn't typically go together. Perfect for a really modern and colorful Bride! We did lots of fun DIY projects to make it extra unique! Our shoot is edgy/modern meets eclectic fall and showcases one of our newest wedding venues in this area, the amazing Hyde House. We hope you enjoy this shoot as much as we are proud of it. And we hope it represents thats our community of wedding vendors is fighting to keep our industry alive.
We used RIT Dye to make custom colors with muslin fabric and then cut those fabrics into strips and created a custom wedding backdrop. Using RIT and mixing multiple colors allows you to get a truly unique color and style that makes it personal. We also used some of this fabric to create napkins for our styled reception table.
For the Bride we knew we wanted a statement piece that was unique so Style Hair & Make-up created a pearl “crown” style headband using pearls from Michaels and a headband off Amazon to make it one of a kind!
Find a fabric you love that can easily be dyed - cotton, linen and rayon are great fabrics for this. Joanns has a wonderful selection and makes it really affordable. For this we chose Muslin because its very easy to work with. Use RIT Dye’s website for color inspiration and recipes on what colors to mix to get your desired color.
Our color inspiration was Air Force, Cherry Wine and Yellow Submarine. There are 100+ color formulas to use! Buy your dye - we used RIT All Purpose (Blick Art Supplies has the absolute best selection online and shipped super fast. Other websites don’t carry every color.) Then follow the step by step instructions for how to dye the fabric, we chose the washing machine route because it SO easy to dye large amounts of fabric. (scroll down and select washing machine) Allow to dry and cut or rip then into strips of anything length or width to create a fun backdrop. You can have them all spaced out perfectly or layered in lots of different lengths. There are so many ways to make this your own. Plus remember how I said it was affordable? The entire project was under $150.
