When you think of a wedding in Greece, your first thought is probably waterfront villas in white and blue with billowing chiffon gowns and a boat send-off. This team decided to switch it up. Shila Athens, a newly renovated hotel in one of the most historic cities in the world, played host to this unique boho meets deco-inspired shoot that is serving some serious Casablanca vibes. Rattan and cane furniture mix with printed silk wallpaper and Tiffany lamps creating a laid-back and elegant affair.
For Good Times wanted to challenge the idea of the traditional Athenian wedding and show what other gems this city has to offer. Roserie used lots of greenery when creating the florals for this shoot that give the entire venue a tropical, perfectly overgrown vibe that only adds to the ambiance of the already cool venue. These photos by Effie Grigoriou are so warm and welcoming, they completely capture the feel of this event. Lulumeli was there to get all of these delectable details on video too! Athens, Greece is brimming with history, but while the world-renowned ancient monuments are certainly worth the visit, this styled photoshoot celebrates its 20th-century heritage, a vision of art nouveau romance, cherished traditional craftsmanship, and old-world class, all coming together for a wedding brunch of relaxed luxury and exquisite style.
The venue itself provided ample inspiration. Set in the aristocratic neighborhood of Kolonaki, in the heart of Athens, Shila is a magnificent 1920s residence turned into a boutique hotel after a sympathetic restoration. With combined elements of the by-gone and the contemporary, filled with European bourgeois elegance, this neoclassical house is ideal for micro-weddings and elopements.
When designing this wedding shoot, Ioanna, Wedding Planner and founder of For Good Times, focused on a vintage ambiance yet contemporary style wedding brunch, ideal for modern couples who think outside the box. She curated hand-knitted cozies, macramé pieces, and rattan furniture (a nod to boho) with vintage serving sets, handmade plates, and colored glassware. Lush florals in warm, dusty tones complement the wedding tablescape with notes of delight, while brunch snacks, and…oh, those desserts are simply mouth-watering perfection!
In images oozing romance, the photographer, Effie Grigoriou, managed to capture the nostalgic and the ethereal nature of the venue, and the opulent and the welcoming aura of the event by showcasing gorgeous details like the antique wrought iron bed, the retro art nouveau lamps, the astounding hand-sewn wedding dresses, the exquisite period-style jewelry, and the charming handmade paper stationery.
