Okay, so, granted, we could be talking about Cardi B. and whether or not her Grammy’s red carpet ensem last night will be incentivizing any brides to go extttttrrra out of the box on their own wedding day looks (her vintage Theirry Mugler clam gown was interesting, to say the least), but instead, we decided to go in a different direction for Monday motivation. With the BAFTA Awards and none other than our muse for everything, the Duchess. Kate.
Stepping out for last night’s 2019 BAFTA Awards (if you’re not familiar with them, they’re basically London’s Oscars, so, a pretty big deal), she joined her husband - current BAFTA President - on the red carpet in an absolutely stunning Alexander McQueen gown that was ethereal, effortless, and everything that a modern bride wants to be on her wedding day.
Interestingly enough, we haven’t seen too many one-shoulder/asymmetrical gowns coming down the runways at bridal market as of late, but we’d be willing to bet that Kate’s example is going to completely reinvigorate the trend. We’d call it angelic, brides-to-be would simply call it perfection 😇. So, designers, how about a renaissance on the one-shouldered silhouette? Because we’ve seen it done in years before, and now that Kate has reminded us all about how good it can look, we kind of want to see it again. And again. And again.

Her Royal Highness is no stranger to this amazingly-feminine aesthetic, either. The flow of the fabric, the way it’s ruched at her side, the 3D floral appliqués that so delicately adorn her shoulder, the Grecian-style dress is what Kate wears best, really, and the simplicity of it all is our favorite part. Well, along with her fit-to-be-bridal baubles and accessories, which included heirloom diamond and pearl drop earrings from her late MIL’s collection, an exceptionally-sparkly bangle, a white minaudière, and glittering Jimmy Choo pumps.
Since one-shouldered looks are apparently suuuuuper hard to come by RN, we figured we’d call out a few of our accessories vendors who can absolutely help you channel her flawless finishing touches.
