With a modern funky edge to its style and an itch for sunny warm days, Adventure Photo Stories embarked on showing us just what you can do with a grapefruit on your spring wedding day! It's a beautiful color to add to your palette and makes for a fun and fresh decor element when you cut it in half. But there is so much more.

After a long Michigan winter, I felt like a creative champagne bottle ready to burst. I could see the signs of spring peeking through the grey snow and was incredibly inspired. I called up some of my wedding vendor friends and we decided to curate a wedding editorial that incorporated forward-thinking design elements with the hope of spring. We drew inspiration from ripe grapefruit, living coral (the Pantone color of the year), clear acrylic, and the use of detailed thread/fringe.
Alyssa from Fleurology created a modern eclectic sweetheart table featuring living coral and citrus hued florals, clear glass, and tasseled acrylic name cards made by Kayla Taylor Designs. For the invitation suite, Kayla paired clear acrylic and vellum with the handmade elements of raw-edge paper and coral tassels. The playful opposites harken back to the sweetheart table’s modern meets funky accents.
Esther, co-owner of the shoot’s location, Elemental Media, wore the stunning “Tammy” Chantel Lauren gown from Spring Sweet with peek-a-boo modern cutouts and hip thread-detailed chiffon. Sarah Boucher from Michigan Glam finished the look with a loose side braid and coral toned eyes and lips.
The shoot ended with all of us devouring the incredible dessert table created by Nicole from Coco Renee. She took over two hours to hand press the circle details into the coral buttercream of the first tier of the wedding cake! Nothing beats the taste of buttercream, and Nicole found a way to make it just as interesting as any fondant design. She also made clear gold-splattered lollipops, vanilla almond cupcakes with strawberry frosting, grapefruit bars, and white chocolate dipped cake pops two ways. I could totally see the popsicle-style cake pops becoming the next big thing at weddings.
Of course, after a long winter everyone needs a refreshing drink, so I created a light and funky spin on the good ol’ G+T to celebrate.
