Taking its cues from the love of Khalessi (Daenerys Targaryen) and Khal Drogo the astrological elements will steal your heart just as fast as this HBO series.

Winter is here with this moody and romantic stylized wedding shoot, full of celestial details. For this editorial concept we were inspired by the enchanting world of Game of Thrones; particularly the enduring bond between the Khal and Khalessi with their terms of endearment for one another, “Moon of my life” and “My sun and stars.” We drew parallels to these show lines with E.E. Cummings’ poetry: “You are my sun, my moon, and all my stars” to craft a celestial theme. Both sets of quotes epitomize what it means to give yourself to another person completely and evoke a mystical interpretation of love that is abounding, infinite, and destined by the cosmos.

The Westeros Wedding Of Your Dreams

For this shoot, planner, Purple Summer Events, and designer, Whimsy Design Studio, wanted to dip their toes into the world of Westeros to demonstrate ways to transport your guests to another time and place without becoming too kitschy. They achieved this by incorporating elements of the show into small decorative details such as signage as well as keeping with an overall rich and earthy tone to complement the forested, Kingswood-esque setting. A deep color palette of blues, a touch of burgundy, and mixed metallics reminiscent of the night sky united these Game of Thrones inspired details with the larger celestial motif.
Elisa Watkins Photography beautifully captured all the enchanting details, from the warm and eclectic tassel ceremony backdrop to a bountiful feast table. The table setting was styled with a mix of metallic vintage wares from Plank & Pearl Rentals, stone place cards adorned with constellations, and dramatic, lush florals from A Florae.
The Bride wore an ethereal, flowing dress from Rish Bridal. Her regal look was completed with bold makeup and braided hair fit for a Khaleesi.
