Getting Married In A Marble Quarry–It’s A Real Thing!

Until now, outdoor weddings have been reserved for garden parties or boho landscapes, but could marble quarries be the edgy couple's answer to an outdoor celebration? We love that despite the surroundings being completely natural, there's no greenery in sight, just towering marble walls, the likes of which you won't get in any hotel lobby. And we can't forget the natural lighting...you simply can't beat the bright white sunlight bouncing off of the glittering marble surface and the chiseled facets that cast the most dramatic shadows. This team decided to keep the color palette limited to neutrals that mesh beautifully with the natural colors found in the marble itself.

Ledi Zoto went above and beyond with photographer Ulrich Sperl Weddings, descending down into the quarry with the models and all of the decor for this shoot. Sölker Marmor is an incredible take on a wedding venue and we foresee a lot of couples flocking there to tie the knot in the very near future. My Celebration created these lovely moody florals utilizing dried and live flowers to create depth and volume. At an altitude of almost 1 400 meters above sea level, they descended into the depths of the Sölker marble quarry. Austrian Wedding Stylist Ledi Zoto and photographer Ulrich Sperl created an inspiring elopement celebration encircled by giant walls of the finest marble. Sölker marble from Styria is one of the highest quality marbles in the world. Once called the "stone of the gods" by ancient Greeks, it served as a stunning setting on this sunny day in the year 2022. Monumental blocks of precious marble cast large shadows. Rough cuts oppose fine veins running through the surface of the stones and a delicate and subtle synergy of shades of white, rose, green, and grey. No two parts are alike. The couple is entering and blending in this multilayered stage. Let the play begin.
