However, if you are just as excited as we are to see what happens to our merry band of Westerosians, we welcome you to this delightful Song of Ice and Fire themed wedding inspiration. Winter is coming and we have a full gallery of images from Victoria Boustani as documentation.
Okay, team, buckle up...winter has come! This shoot was inspired by HBO's biggest show ever, Game of Thrones. In honor of the series' last season premiering Today, we decided to develop this shoot to spark excitement!
In case you're not familiar, the show ended with a two-part season finale consisting of an EPIC battle on a frozen lake! Jon Snow, our fearless leader from the north was rescued by the Mother of Dragons, heir to the Throne, and maybe Jon’s new love interest(?) Daenaryes Targaryen. Dany swooped down at the last possible second, in true GOT drama-filled form, and defeated the white walkers. The lake was engulfed in fire for an epic song of ice and fire.
The King of the North, who has lived his entire life in Winterfell, knows nothing but the brutal cold that the winter is about to bring, including the fate of the 7 kingdoms. Dany, the Mother of Dragons cannot be touched by fire, making her the “Unburnt.” Ergo… A Song of Ice and Fire.
Now that I have you caught up let’s move on to this Winterfell Wonder. What I’ve explained will get you through the exquisite and thoughtful details behind this incredible shoot. Our wonderful and fan-ful vendors helped us to create this incredible vision.
Let’s start with our location, Gilbertsville Farmhouse, an incredible farm wedding venue tucked in the hills of the western Catskill region. The farm offers a beautiful winter wonderland. The glamping tents perfectly resembling those of the tents on the show, that set the scene for a tradition-breaking getting ready scene. Our king and queen prepared for their ceremony together, rather than separate. Because, in this, and in the epic season to come, they only have each other.
We follow them along the property to its more deserted spaces. Their ceremony is, get this, on top of our frozen lake on site. No..., I’m not kidding. The following portraits were also on the lake, and yes, that’s real fire.
Our dinner was beautifully set up by our rental company, Brown Built Rentals, who perfectly matched the style of our shoot with gold and black accents on handcrafted tables made by our personal Jon Snow. Our Queen Dany decorated the place settings. Our incredible runner, (and florals) by C&A Event Planning, complimented the style and the tables. What else but the dress and invitation suite. The dress, donated and styled by Gee June Bridal, had two gorgeous looks. One for fun and one for our stoic portraits.
The invitation suite and calligraphy were creatively done by Helen and Jane Creative. Every detail complimented the show from the dragon scales on the inside flap of the invitation envelope to the ‘I drink and I know things’ quote on the drink menu: a very famous quote said by Tyrion Lannister – Daenaryes’s advisor, and the best character on the show.
