Since rehearsal dinners are often thought of as the aesthetically boring yet necessary "other half" of the wedding celebration. Our next inspirational shoot breaks that misconception and showcases an event that acts more as a balancing counterpart to the wedding. Instead of it's dull pre-show.
See this fun distillery rehearsal dinner in its entirety in the full gallery here, captured by Sean Money and Elizabeth Fay. One thing we know you will love is the entire shoot uses only local Charleston vendors and products. Love that!
This Styled Shoot planned and designed by Party.Love.Birds and shot by Sean Money and Elizabeth Fay Photography is the first shoot in Charleston to showcase one of our new distilleries The Striped Pig as a bridal event space in addition to using only local vendors and products. As you will see it is an extremely detailed shoot full of DIY projects that not only offer a very personalized element it also makes this event a very affordable one to reproduce and customize. The venue is an operational distillery so it naturally contributed a very industrial feel with it's fantastic mixed metals and large "bare canvas" spaces. I wanted to find a way to embrace those elements while bringing in some warmth, color, and whimsy. In order to do that we brought in a midnight blue, coraly orange, teal, and mint color palette fused with a typography design theme, which naturally added black and white to our spectrum as well.
EventHaus played up the industrial feel of the warehouse while bringing in a modern touch with an Edison Bulb lighting installation over the bar and the Bronze Radial Chandelier hung above the hops wrapped wine barrel table topped with a cake shaped structure composed of delicious doughnuts from Glazed Gourmet. In order to balance the very colorful palette, whimsy decor, and soft floral choices we focused on bringing in a harder yet neutral element in our rental pieces. EventHaus provided an excellent selection with their leather lounge pieces, reclaimed wood tables, wine barrel pieces, and metal accent tables and chairs.
Starting off our many notable DIY projects JLV Creative installed an amazing black and white stripe draped entrance piece along with 16ft long ribbon wall panels that were hung from the rafters to serve as a non-traditional dual functioning backdrop that both provided decor and coverage of the Striped Pig's work spaces. Party.Love.Birds added unique DIY touches to this scene as well with a hand bent copper wire balls and cake topper, paint dipped concrete coasters, homemade oil cloth pillows, napkin wraps and geo shape table decor from newspaper, nightlight canvas signage, and sheet metal runners that served as the menu for the dinner. Inspired by Italian marketplaces with flower bunches hung from the ceiling, Tiger Lily Weddings installed floral chandeliers with groupings of wildflowers suspended with decorative wire balls from copper toned dried vine lamp shades.
To the tunes of the Big John Belly band Fresh Foods Market Catering served a 32 course menu that was modeled after a very popular culinary trend that consists of a dinner composed of a seemingly endless amount of mini dishes that consist of 1 or 2 bites each. This type of service not only went along swimmingly with our out-of-the-box style and whimsy theme, but would be an excellent idea for a real rehearsal dinner since that type of event is usually more of a "meet & greet" setting and in it’s nature it is quite the conversation starter.
