From Erica Elizabeth Designs:To Love & To Cherish: The bridal veil rememberedUntil the mid-nineteenth century, the veil was only decorative, hanging down the back of the head. It was not until the 1860’s that the bride actually wore the veil over her face during the ceremony to cover her modesty. The veil remained over the face until her husband lifted it at home later that night. The custom for the bride to wear the veil over her face at the church and then back afterwards evolved in the latter part of the nineteenth century.Stephanie Williams of This Modern Romance captured the perfect pairing of Erica Elizabeth Designs wedding accessories with Claire Pettibone’s beautiful gowns in a way that reflects a time past when life was shared with nature and its delicate balance.
