Don’t get us wrong, we love wedding photos taken during the day, they’re stunning and detailed and soft - all the good things. But! What we don’t see quite as often are those incredible night shots. When the wedding day is nearly over and the couple can steal away for a few minutes to get some flawless final shots.
I loved how my wedding photos turned out, I did, but I have to say, the final few photos that we curated for our wedding album had to be my favorite. It was pitch black outside and me and my husband kissed in a bistro light-lit gazebo and danced under the string lights in the courtyard. It was just the two of us and our photographer, and it was relaxed, beautiful, and entrancing. Best pics of the day, for sure!
I was looking back at those shots a few days ago, and I automatically pulled up our feed to scope out similar photos that [inevitably] got all of the love. There’s just something about nighttime wedding photography that gets everyone amped up, whether it’s how natural and authentic the captures appear or just how awesome the overall al fresco ambience is.
We rounded up our absolute favorites for your viewing pleasure, but before you start your scroll, you might want to consider these nighttime photo tips or go over your thoughts with your photographer well in advance of your wedding. Not even kidding, photographers get the most gratification out of these looks, because, like I said earlier, they’re more relaxed, there’s less pressure, and also, the shadowing and the darkness is really fun to work with.
Anything strung. Hanging lights, globes, lanterns will always have our hearts.
Woven around you. It doesn’t have to look like you’re caught up in Christmas lights, either...
Background action. Whether it’s the sparkle of the city or some magical lighting installs… this background interest can always give a photo some 🦋.
… Fireworks and sparklers work the same kind of magic, too!
