Is there a more romantic setting for your wedding than your very own private English country estate? We think not! For this inspirational editorial, the incredible team created a series of images to showcase the spectacular Ugbrooke House, an historic stately home nestled in 4,000 acres of Capability Brown landscaped grounds.
The design concept was conceived by Jessica from Ardour & Bow Weddings and Events, and beautifully captured by fine art photographer Camilla Arnhold, with videography by Sean White Films set to an 18th Century poem extolling the beauty of this unique venue. The romance and history that echo throughout the stunning interiors of Grade 1 listed Ugbrooke House came together to inspire the creative concept for this shoot. It draws upon the historic tales of romantic balls and lavish weekend parties hosted by Lady Mabel Clifford, to inspire the story of one couple’s perfect wedding day.
“I wanted to showcase the wonderfully romantic spaces, making use of the architectural details, along with the quintessential parterre grounds, to bring the story to life. Lifting the soft sage green, found resplendent in the historic Robert Adam designed Library, to form the basis of the refined colour palette, this was paired with a hint of blush pink and gold accents, to reflect the gold cornicing used extensively throughout the house. The overall design concept was to reflect the sumptuous surroundings and stately features to produce an opulent look of refined elegance. The style is reminiscent of tradition, whilst embracing contemporary touches, demonstrating that whilst Ugbrooke House is an important country estate, it offers the perfect backdrop for each and every couple to reflect their own style.”
Inspired by the wondrous cornicing, Fine Art Calligraphy designed a stationery suite featuring an intricate floral border, along with a beautiful illustration of the house. The suite incorporated our colour palette, and this carried through every element of the day, even down to the stunning bridal shoes by Claire Pettibone for Bella Belle.
Our beautiful bride began her wedding journey in the truly stunning master suite, dressed in romantic silk bridal lingerie. What better way to wake up than in a glorious four-poster bed, the perfect spot to add the finishing touches to her vows, and dream of the day ahead. Next we see her resplendent in two absolutely stunning bespoke gowns by British designer Emma Beaumont. The first dress is a delicate tulle gown twinned with the dreamiest tulle sleeves, the perfect juxtaposition between traditional and modern design. For the second look we chose a timeless silhouette, featuring a strapless lace corset dress, and full Mikado skirt. Stunning diamonds, specifically designed for this shoot by jeweller Alex Appleton added to the look, with a vintage inspired diamond ring and blush pink sapphire drop earrings. Our groom, meanwhile, was wonderfully dapper in his tailored tux from Moss Bros. Making the most of their Tailor Me bespoke service, we also chose a handsome sage green suit paired with a blush pink tie.
Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown was one of Britain’s most celebrated landscape architects. It was only fitting therefore that we created a romantic outdoor ceremony. The pavilion, set amongst the rolling Devon hills, made for a breath-taking setting. The transparent ghost chairs were the ideal fusion of contemporary and classic design. Florist Studio Kadō created a beautiful living aisle and statement florals featuring locally grown British Strawflower, Sweet Pea and Smoke Bush paired with Hydrangea Baby Lace, Jude the Obscure roses and a collection of foliage, grasses and herbs, all spectacularly adorning the pavilion.
With gold chargers, scalloped plates and gold-rimmed glasses, our elegant dining room created an aesthetic that was luxurious and refined. Reflecting the sage green tones of the Library, the taper candles, linen and delicate florals perfectly complemented the stately surroundings. No celebration would be complete without a champagne and dessert bar, and with ours, the gold bar brings a touch of luxury. Our bar was adorned with an array of desserts including a macaron pyramid from Pretty Little Pastries. Sugar Plum Bakes created the most wonderful cake in sage green and blush pink, as a final sweet treat for guests to enjoy. Completing our beautiful wedding at Ugbrooke House, our romantic convertible Morgan provided the perfect wedding getaway car, with our couple roaring away down the long sweeping driveway, to a lifetime of new memories.
