From Amber Dickson of The Butterfly Papers:We were really inspired by the venue, Station 22 Cafe, when it came to the styling. The front street-facing window creates the most beautiful filtered light and shadow, and we wanted to play with the moodier feel it created. From the exposed brick and reclaimed wood, to the mismatched antique chairs and pianola sheets hung as artwork, I wanted the scene to pay homage to an inspired, collected feel.
The flowers were wild and natural in inspiration, featuring seasonal early spring beauties that fit our palette perfectly. Contrasting textures of hydrangea, bush ivy, pussy willow, lisianthus, dusty miller, anemone and ranunculus played well together within the monochromatic tones. The bride's bouquet was hand tied with velvet ribbon, antique inspired lace and a slice of dusky agate.
The butterfly feature wall was one of my favorite elements and took me no time to make. I printed classic love poems in a handwritten script, then painted abstractly (read, messily) with lilacs, teals and gold. Then I cut out the butterfly shapes and taped them to the wall in a flying pattern.
The tables were styled with vintage silver goblets and containers, scattered geodes and gold painted frames. Each place setting was simple, to let the other pieces shine, with layered white and teal dishes, mason jar glasses and wrapped flatware tied in twine and a sprig of rosemary.
We worked with some great local vendors who really helped our vision come together. The whole look was completed by our dip-dyed invitation suite and place cards by October Ink, along with the artisanal berry crostatas and stunning cake from Padicakes.
