From Helen Warner Photography: Ever since the tulip was introduced to Holland in the 16th century, it has not only grown to become the national flower of the Netherlands but it is also synonymous with springtime across Europe. This shoot is a celebration of the tulip, once revered as the king of flowers.
The location for the shoot was the floral school of talented Dutch florist Alice Calcasola of All In One Season. She created a tulip wonderland with the thousands of British grown white blooms supplied by Smith and Munson. Alice and her team painstakingly attached the tulips to a rather glorious heart shaped tree to create the most dramatic cascade effect. From the tree branches hung hundreds of white ribbon woven with tulip heads and bulbs. They also made the matching stunning bouquet, floral surrounds for each place setting and the beautiful chair back decorations. Our main table set up consisted of a simple table styled lots of ornate brass candlesticks, brass placeholders, glass votives, white gold-rimmed plates topped with a speckled green bowl and green glassware.
The organically styled and expertly crafted tulip 'charger plates' were the only flowers on the table. Above the table was the large floral ribbon design that perfectly incorporated vast amounts of delicate texture and the main colours of our shoot. The china, crockery, and cutlery in hues of white, green and gold came from Classic Crockery who also provided the cross back chairs. Deborah of Wedding Day Hire carefully chose items to blend and compliment the table colour theme. Many pieces, including the tulip shaped votives, came from her incredible product range.
The model was styled by very talented bridal stylist and hair and makeup artist, Boe of Botias who created a natural dewy look. The flower embroidered vintage wedding dress was Annie by Eliza Jane Howell at Morgan Bridal, who also supplied the Juliet Cap veil. All this tulip mania Dutch inspired rustic opulence was beautifully captured by the very talented Helen Warner Photography.
Rowena of Plume Design created the green and gold watercolour stationery range for the shoot. This provided inspiration for the beautiful cakes by Elizabeth's Cake Emporium who made a number of cakes and sweet treats including a 5 tier white and green ruffle cake with white sugar tulips, a green crackle effect cake, a two-tier watercolour effect cake and a gold hand painted distressed cake.
