Rosanna Lilly Photography and The Destination Wedding Co. came together to create wedding inspiration for couples looking to have an adventurous destination wedding. They selected The Oaklands Wedding Venue that had the wild spirit of a remote Canadian venue, while being based in East Yorkshire, UK.
The creative team worked together to create an organic atmosphere with a chic boho vibe. The inspiration shoot features the top 2020 wedding trends- the laidback bridal look, a dusty rose and terra cotta color palette, a grazing table, and wild florals. Katey of Ghost Orchid Bride helped pick out a beautifully ethereal dress for fresh and glowing bride Harriet. As Kate was a young bride herself, she was conscious that Harriet feel comfortable and that the dress wasn’t wearing her. Katey carefully selects the chicest and cool collections from talented designers around the world for the most discerning modern brides looking for one-of-a-kind statement dresses.
With a gathered skirt, simple silhouette and scalloped back, the Chantel Lauren Designs Annie dress perfectly matched the natural style of the shoot. The delicate straps and free-flowing layers of lace added to the romantic nature of the shoot. The dress was combined with delicate jewelry in natural materials from The Vamoose and a hand-tied bouquet by Bloom & Bridal for the wilderness wild vibe when accessorized with cowboy boots and a worn-in leather jacket.
From Kate Howard Make Up Artistry: With a beautiful complexion, Harriet was like our own Charlotte Tilbury model! Soft pink cheeks against her English Rose skin gave such a radiance and warmth to the editorial. With an effortless, slightly disheveled and beautiful half updo, Alexandra Bespoke’s hair vine worked so beautifully nestled within Harriet’s long locks.”
Dan’s alternative suit was a bold choice but worked perfectly against the elegance of Harriet’s wild bride look. Complete with finishing touches of the braided top knot, feather tie-pin, and a textured shirt, Dan showed that the groom can also show their personality on their big day and dare to be different.
Many of The Destination Wedding Co. clients want to depart from the traditional wedding format and escape to wild locations for 2-3 days to celebrate with their nearest and dearest. The Oaklands Wedding Venue offers that freedom and getaway for couples in the UK, surrounded by natural backdrops in a beautiful remote location. The ceremony area overlooks the lake, the wooden hunting lodge has a cozy wood burner and there is also a festoon lit forest – which is perfect for a first dance. A magical one-of-a-kind location.
Jen from Bloom & Bridal gave us her take on how to create a natural and textured floral display; “You want your flowers to flow, they need to be 3-dimensional rather than look like they have just been stuck into place. We moved away from using floral foam which gives you that loose and natural look. This styling works so well with most types of venues, tipis, barns, houses - where a less formal approach is needed.”
Jen’s ethos at My Pretties is all about the details; soft fabrics, the most elegant candles and earthenware vases. The mix of colors Jen used to style the tables-cape and venue brought the brief to life with warm ambers rusts & pink hues matched with rattan, natural textures, patterns & wooden highlights.
