This winter I wanted to show brides that getting married in the winter doesn't limit you to using the "all white" or "winter wonderland" theme for their big day. I personally am not the biggest fan of cold weather, so when it comes time for winter, I think of a warm, cozy, fireplace, and a cup of hot apple cider or hot cocoa with a good ol' book in hand. This shoot was designed with a "warm winter" vibe, antlers, burlap, wood accents, and of course the cozy knit throws you want to wrap yourself up in!
Liz, from Skyla Arts captured the mood perfectly. Our bride looked stunning with her amber red hair and that funky winter-vintage curl and bright red lips. Her dresses are perfection, thanks to Gabrielle's Bridal Altier who partnered to supply the amazing Martina Liana and Alvina Valenta gowns. The Groom looked dashing with his Banana Republic outfit, great for the modern groom who would prefer not to wear a traditional suit or tux.
The tablescape wouldn't be complete without the floral designs from the fabulous Indelisa, of Royal Bloom Boutique. Her addition of mini apples and acorns into the arrangements with deep red peonies, protea, and scabies were the smallest but most amazing pops of detail. Hartmann Studios supplied the rest of the tablescape, complete with etched glassware, chargers, gold-rimmed plates, flatware, linen and napkins, and the various votives to compliment the design.
Berkeley City Club was the perfect venue for the shoot, with its old-world vintage charm and amazing fireplace in the Members Lounge. That, along with the bookcases (and vintage books) were the perfect start to our set up. Kim, owner of Bright Room Studios, was pivotal in bringing the design together in the invitation and graphics carried all the way through the design of the tablescape and escort cards to the labels on the hot cocoa bar. Her creativity and perspective was spot on with my vision.
