Alexia casually sipped her drink at a rooftop bar. She was admiring the beautiful cliffs of Cabo when she spotted the most gorgeous restaurant. She knew then, that's where she was going to get married. Sure enough, she did, and it's every bit as pretty as it sounds! Shades of terracotta, blush, and other beachy neutrals complement the venue perfectly while modern touches like smoked glass and gold-dipped silverware bring a little edge.
As if Sunset Monalisa wasn't already gorgeous enough, Amy Abbott worked with the bride to amp up her already Pinterest-perfect dreams. The hanging pampas grass centerpieces by Cristina Gonzalez couldn't be more perfect! These dreamy photos by Kape Photography perfectly capture this beautiful day, you can see even more in the full gallery. We grew up in the same hometown, went to the same high school, but were a couple of years apart and officially met for the first time after connecting on Bumble. We dated for a little bit over a year before we got engaged! Chris proposed to me on his birthday, so I thought July 18th was going to be all about celebrating him! We went to what I thought was a birthday dinner for him at Trump Tower Chicago rooftop with my sister and her bf. I went to the bathroom with my sister and when I came back he had roses and rose petals everywhere and was waiting for me with the most gorgeous Chicago scenery in the background. After proposing and me saying yes ( obviously!) I turned around and saw both of our entire families there to watch it happen as well. I was so surprised he pulled it off perfectly.
A couple of years ago I went for drinks with my parents at the Cape Hotel and looked over and saw the most beautiful cliffside restaurant and turned to my parents and said that’s where I want to get married! Crazy how things work out–I'm so happy Chris loved the venue just as much as I did! I knew I wanted to keep the tone very neutral and earthy. The scenery is so beautiful already, I didn’t want to take away from it but rather add to it. The main “theme” I wanted to keep in mind was romantic, airy, and fun.
I pulled so much inspo from Pinterest, as well as trying to incorporate my own ideas. If I saw a certain set-up I liked I would choose that, but swap out the flowers with ones that I liked etc. Also, my wedding planner Gaby helped bring my whole vision to life. We went back and forth with mood boards until it was absolutely perfect! My bouquet was made of hanging orchids and baby’s breath. At the venue, we used a combination of baby’s breath, tan and light pink pampas grass, and other dried palm leaves. Outside of the actual venue and food, our biggest splurge was definitely the reception table set-ups. I wanted to set the most amazing mood for the night with flowers, drapery, etc. It was so worth it though! We will cherish those memories and pictures for a lifetime!
The speeches from my dad, Chris’s brother and my sister during the reception were so heartfelt and thought out. It brought me to tears thinking about how loved we both are by our families. My bridesmaids also gave a surprise speech that was sweet and embarrassing at the same time! It got everyone laughing! Our first dance together also stands out because it was this moment where we finally felt relaxed, it was in the most beautiful setting under sparklers and all of our guests just looked so happy with big smiles on their faces. The song we chose was also very special to us and it was a moment of our wedding that we were so excited for since the beginning. Finally, during the ceremony when we were putting the rings on each other, I couldn’t get Chris’s ring to fit his finger and we looked up at each other and were trying not to laugh. I’m not sure if anyone noticed, but there are specific pictures of us holding up our hands showing our rings to our guests and it's so obvious Chris’s ring was not on haha.
I learned that there is a lot of back-end work that goes into planning a wedding, but that it’s so worth it! The night goes by so fast and I was told so many times to soak in every moment and enjoy each other and everything else will work out and it's so true! Don’t stress about anything because everything is going to work out just how you imagined it. Everyone involved truly wants the best for you and will even go out of their way to make it happen.
