When the Pannikin Building in downtown San Diego opened at the beginning of 2019 we knew this would be the perfect canvas for our styled wedding photo shoot. Our color palette of fuchsia, teal, purple, emerald, and peach compliments the bright color and texture of the brick walls, finished wooden floors, and plentiful natural sunlight of the venue. When you walk in the door it’s difficult to stop the creative wheel from spinning and the décor options seem limitless. Our inspiration for this styled shoot comes from the desire to step out of the box not only with a venue space but also with table design, color, and feel. While traditionally our couples’ trend toward romantic, soft, and timeless color palettes, our focus here would be bold and brilliant colors with varying textures.
The untraditional wedding dress is designed by Rue De Seine featured at The Dress Theory Bridal Shop in San Diego. Simple hair by Jillian Rae and makeup by Claire Alyse compliment this eye-catching boho chic inspired dress. The bride holds a bountiful bouquet of bright jewel tone flowers with dahlias, garden roses, pink anemone, purple freesia, protea pincushion, and ranunculus.
The floral table centerpieces are carefully crafted by Bethany with Splendid Sentiments and are complemented with a soft icy blue velvet tablecloth, neutral linen napkins, and gold charger plates by BBJ Linen, and unique wooden willow chairs by TBD San Diego. The lovely dinner plates, salad plates, flatware, and glassware are from Hostess Haven. Candlesticks with colored taper candles and varying small votive candles are also from TBD San Diego, and add a romantic touch with a comfortable layering to the tablespace. To pull the place setting together, Kristina from Peachy Keen Lettering, beautifully hand-lettered the dinner menu on white cotton napkins. This design was inspired by work from The Lettered J.
We absolutely love the idea of including hanging elements to wedding décor if your venue allows! The Pannikin Building’s beamed ceiling was an opportunity to add the visual element of the Rattan Pendants from TBD San Diego, adding to the boho chic look. The color and design of the brick wall behind the table inspired us to create a hanging floral piece that brought the whole look together.
Keri from One of a Kind Paperie designed a custom invitation that carried the colors and theme throughout the shoot. the Menu was replicated from an original design by The Lettered J.
Colorful flowers decorate this moody grey and burgundy cake from Jenny Wenny Cakes. Combining the cake table with rugs, fabric, and gold candles against this darker brick make for a more dramatic scene.
We had an absolute blast with Jessica from Jessica Rice Photography! She knew exactly the look we were going for and easily pieced elements together to showcase the direction of the styled shoot.
