It all started with the venue. When Lake Orta Wedding & Event Planner Greta Betton first visited Villa Antica Colonia she immediately thought that it would be the perfect place to style an Italian lake wedding with a twist. Instead of the usual, but always beautiful, dreamy setting with a pastel palette, she wanted colorful, bold arrangements and statement-making patterns. She gathered a talented team of Italian wedding vendors to bring us this bold and romantic wedding inspiration.

I partnered with the talented Chiara, flower designer of Sfumature di Cipria, and together we styled this colorful version of a very Italian wedding.
Subtleness wasn’t the aim here as it is reflected in the palette of deep blues and bright magenta as the main hues and touches of red to add complexity. We didn’t want to limit the colors to the flowers and we chose to have them in every detail: the splash across the table, where we paired different sets of plates to create a unique combination, they are a dominant part of the stationary, they make the cake stand out even more and they even making an appearance on the rings, making them perfect for our couple.
Combining so many different styles and elements it is a bit of a slippery slope as it can turn into a mess pretty easily. We avoided that by using mirroring elements to tie everything together.
For example, we used royal blue to link the Tuscany inspired plates to the oriental design of the chargers, at the same time we can find an oriental mood both in the graphic of the stationery and in the setting of the cake, thanks to the Seletti “Kintsugi vases” decorated in royal blue and red, once again connecting every element thanks to details.
My goal was to show that brides don’t have to choose between colorful and elegant, they can be bold and romantic at the same time. On their wedding day, they really should be everything they want.
Pushing forward this idea of being yourself and doing things your way, we also toyed with the program of the day.
Our couple meets right away and takes a romantic stroll through the garden before meeting with their guests for welcome drinks. We chose a fun, short dress by Le Spose di Loredana Perrera for our bride to wear in this first part.
Moving on to the dinner she changes in the high-low dress of our fashion dreams. It is finally time for the most important part, the ceremony, set on sunset on a terrace overlooking the lake. This moment calls for a flowy, long and elegant blush pink gown, and a toast to the happy couple.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without Daniela from Di Luce e d'Ombra, so talented as a photographer that might go unnoticed how gifted she is in creating a magical atmosphere around the couple. She has the ability to make them feel as they are in their own romantic bubble, and that’s how you get the really amazing couple shots.
