A Stellar Judy Garland Inspired Wedding: What better way to honor actress and singer Judy Garland than in this vintage stellar-inspired wedding dreamt up by Paper Moon Shoppe and designed by Kiss & Say I Do Events! With Judy Garland being discovered at the Wilshire The Ebell of Los Angeles in 1934, we found it perfectly fitting to pay tribute to her life and career inside the theatre and the historic clubhouse. Zing! Went the strings of our hearts, knowing all of the details were photographed by Lily Tapia and videotaped by Lex Wedding Films!
The stars aligned perfectly when Allison Maldonado, producer and actress of The Vintage Voyageur, and Seth Jubb, astrologer of The Star Gayzer, traveled from New Jersey to Los Angeles to be in this shoot! Kiss and Say I Do Events and the team of creatives brought a muted vintage vibrancy to the venue and drew inspiration from some of Judy Garland’s on-screen song successes. The details included a rainbow crescent moon, romantic tablescapes, mini cakes + macarons, dreamy cocktails, and a 1955 Chevy Bel Air!
Did we mention an after-party performance by the bride and groom? Come with us over the rainbow to see more from this Judy Garland-inspired wedding! Stars, Clouds, a Moon - OH MY! The Ceremony: We knew it had to be at the Wilshire Ebell stage in Los Angeles, where MGM Producer George Sidney discovered Judy. Paper Moon Shoppe designed this peachy sunset cloudscape inspired by Judy’s famous song Get Happy. This backdrop gives us old Hollywood feels for an intimate theatre ceremony. So a must-have ceremony detail was the vintage-inspired gold microphone used for the exchange of wedding vows. Gilded Swan Paperie created the starry vow books.
The Bride and Groom Look: For the Bride: La Soie Bridal provided not only one but two gorgeous gowns for this shoot (worn for ceremony and reception), plus an after-party tuxedo by Sharpe Suiting, which was a signature look in Judy Garland’s performances. Friar Tux provided all three stunning suits for the groom! The bride wore ivory wedding crystal-studded heels by Bella Belle Shoes.
Wedding Jewelry: The bride wore a stunning and romantic vintage Asscher cut diamond accented by 4 bright emeralds engagement rings and emerald cut mosaic earrings provided by the talented Jewels By Grace.
The Florals: Love Her Madly Weddings brought to the shoot a modern charm with her florals and soft tones from the color palette that also spoke to the vintage era of the design. The inspiration for the florals stemmed from the ceremony cloudscape and the exquisite interior architecture seen inside the Ebell and their Broadway-style theatre. She used a perfect medley of colors with peach, mustard gold, and creamy taupe, signifying the kind of light one would see bouncing off the clouds at sunset; dyed sweet peas, tulips, shimmer roses, butterfly ranunculus, and lisianthus. She added in moody elements, inspired by the venue’s dark wood and velvet red curtains, with pops of burgundy by using chocolate cosmos and red ranunculus.
Gilded Swan Paperie dreamt up a vintage celestial sunset invitation suite, inspired by the amazing backdrop in getting Happy. Pairing soft coral, poppy, and gold colors with shimmery pearlescent paper gave the wedding stationery a bit of a modern twist while adding a little sheen to evoke that star-studded Judy musical. Gilded Swan Paperie seeks inspiration from the design and color palettes from past decades, not commonly seen today. We are all united by the stars and moon above, and that’s why a celestial-themed wedding is just so spot-on perfect!
Tablescape Designs: Kiss & Say I Do Events brought muted vibrancy and modern styling to the tables, which tied in the finishing floral details by Love Her Madly. The gold fractured linens paired perfectly with the ivory plates and gold-rimmed glasses by Bright Events, coordinating nicely with the vintage gold candle holders and stellar menus by Gilded Swan Paperie.
We’re obsessed with this mini cake lineup from Finalee Cakes, who took inspiration from Judy’s greatest on-screen success, The Wizard of Oz - Earl Grey cakes filled and paired with vanilla buttercream. The macarons by Love And Sugary Cakery added a delicious touch to the dessert collection.
Cali Craft Cocktails designed a colorful signature cocktail lineup that complimented the color palette with a customized menu inspired by Judy’s critically acclaimed songs.

Why not have an after-party on stage? It was an encore moment after the styled reception, and we loved the idea. The couple fast-changed into their tuxedos and surprised the team with heart-warming speeches and dance performances! In a tuxedo coat by Sharpe Suiting, Allison came out, adorned with a broach from her grandmother and polka dot, slingback tulle heels by Bella Belle Shoes. Seth met her on stage wearing a tuxedo from Friar Tux.
The couple departed on a beautiful blue and white 1955 Chevy Bel Air provided by Brando Jacobson to complement the vintage look.
