A White Barn Wedding Venue Like No Other

Elegant wedding dress and vibrant bouquet on white barn door

Beauty can be surprising and can come from the most unexpected places. You know that feeling, where something catches your eye and stops you in your tracks. You could stand and stare at it forever. This next wedding shoot took the rustic beauty of a refurbished barn in Idaho- White Barn at Happy Valley and let their inspiration run wild throughout the whole day!

You will not believe that all this fabulous detail stemmed from blobs of paint and worn out paintbrushes. You can see these and even more amazing details photographed by Wedding Chicks members, Ampersand Studios in the full gallery.

Honestly, this entire feature was put together by an Idaho dream team. If you are planning a wedding in Idaho then we highly suggest you call on all of the wedding vendors who put together this shoot. From Ampersand Studios to the beyond talented Just So Event Floral

We also have to give a shout out to the White Barn at Happy Valley. We've personally been there and can vouch for this one of a kind wedding venue. The couple that runs the establishment is beyond lovely. A must see if you are planning an Idaho wedding.

THE INSPIRATION

Taking something old, and making it new again. The White Barn was built in 1920 alongside a modest country home in Nampa, Idaho. After it served its purpose as a working farm, it was recently purchased by a brother/sister restoration team and beautifully reinvented as a place for people to celebrate their favorite day. The theme for this collaboration was not only, “how do we incorporate the beauty of restoration- but how do we reinvent a farm wedding beyond the typical ‘shabby chic’ to something creative and heartfelt?”

The inspiration for the design really started with a color palette: a photo of globs of paint that was saved in Brandi’s Soiree Instagram archives. A gorgeous mix of emerald green, mint, poppy, copper, and some peachy pinks felt like a fresh take and a new way to celebrate blush and mint by adding boldness and unexpected combinations.

The Table

Also stumbled upon was another photo of old, used, paint brushes, all spattered and dipped in different colors of paint- all of which fell into the color palette we were using. Soiree Weddings designers were inspired by the softness and texture of that photo that it translated into the table design and became the foundation for many other aspects of the shoot.

From the mint green linens topped with a gauzy blue-green runner, to the mixed metals of the flatware and pin frogs, and the marble charger plates, we ran with all the textures…and of course used dipped paintbrushes as the escort cards.

The finishing touch was the whimsical flowers by JustSo Event Floral- poppies, peonies, moss, and grasses were made to look like they were growing out of the table, but also in a way, had its own painterly effect.

The Custom Backdrop

Ampersand Studios photographers took their own creative liberties with the paint textures and color palette with a custom painted photo backdrop amongst a hand-painted reception skirt and accessories paired with a Barreto Dancewear illusion leotard- which served as a structural alternative to the flowy, beaded, handmade Daci Gown as the formal ceremony look.

Our models, Elizabeth and Lucas Barreto brought the real love of their relationship, and Elizabeth brought her incredible movement and poise as a professional ballerina. All fell together into something that felt like a song that could be photographed- and the filmy softness mixed with the bold colors was nothing short of a dream.

The Stationery

The painted theme carried through to the wedding paper by Paperie + Pen with brushstrokes throughout the suite. Overall, the focus of textures, movement, and art took over and we can’t believe the beauty in the result.
