Is there anything more comforting or invigorating than your morning cup of coffee? Okay, maybe there are a few things, but we here at the Wedding Chicks do tend to run on that rich caffeinated beverage. So, when Tangerine Event Planning & Design mentioned that the inspiration for this lovely and dreamy shoot came from her daily latte we were all ears.

My initial inspiration for this shoot came to me as I sat in my favorite coffee shop where I sit and work most of my mornings. Many types of people walk through those coffee shop doors. Occasionally I’ll see a couple walking in, hand in hand, new and shiny rings on their fingers, obviously newlyweds in their own little world. It got me reminiscing about those rose-colored glasses that you have only when you’ve met the one you’re meant to be with. The world seems to be a bit brighter, problems a bit smaller, and ‘FOREVER’ a much less daunting idea.
And so, ‘Cream & Sugar’ meets ‘Rose Gold’ during this wedding styled shoot. The color palette mimics the neutral tones of a warm vanilla latte mixed with textures of modern rose-colored metals. Similarly, there is a subtle marriage of soft romantic vibes and modern minimalism. Throughout the shoot, there are many not as obvious details that play around these themes and we will highlight some of them below:
The shoot is at The 1912 in Santa Ana, CA. This venue is a wonderful blank canvas. As an ode to that, our shades of white drapes mimic a blank canvas in our candlelit ceremony site.
The ‘cream + sugar’ theme is seen most obviously in the beautiful sugar glass-decked cake bar and white chocolate candied pecan biscotti favors that tasted as good as they looked on camera.
The tablescapes were designed to be a subtle mix of soft romance and modern minimalism. We aimed to create this look by mixing the modern vibes of Emcee Calligraphy’s rose gold painted acrylics and rose gold flatware with the soft, textured table runner and Jake Duke’s wooden Napa table.
Marisa at Seven Stems created a gorgeous all white, natural bouquet with full ranunculus and tulips for the romantic bride. In contrast, we used a spectrum of modern boxed Vendela, David Austen, and white hydrangeas for the tablescape. The choice of using different florals of the same color allowed us to play with different textures within the same color scheme.
For the bride and groom looks, we went with ultra-romantic blush and ivory dress separates from BHLDN, accessories from Petals and Stones, and a modern fitted suit and accessories from Friar Tux Shop. Tina Tom Makeup created a hair and makeup look to perfectly complement these styles. Finally, we tied in (literally) the fine art romance with Poetry of Silk ribbons, Owl Post Calligraphy’s invitation suite, the Mrs. Box, and whimsical Ralph and Russo shoes.
