The year 2020 marked an unprecedented phenomenon in the history of weddings and for many brides and grooms across the globe it meant not only postponing their celebrations for the next year, but also, as the year wanes taking this downtime as an opportunity to plan better and bigger, with destination weddings focusing more on the experience of the guests.

When our team began to craft a wedding inspiration for 2021 our goals were not only focused on what we -as a design team- wish to suggest, but on the very trends set by the 2020 couples themselves. We drew inspiration from the hundreds of requests we received to re-create the original schemes, turning the 2021 weddings into show-stoppers, laden with meaning and purpose.
Visual optimism became our master ingredient and theme. Exuberant hues popping from every corner, colorful blooms, vibrant stationery and favors, chromatic libation, and pastries, bold textures and cheerful arrangements all curated to elevate the spirit and create a sense of profound happiness around the celebration.

As Greece is a destination wedding country whose people are passionate and live life to the fullest, even at the most difficult times our wish was to gather a fine coterie of strictly local vendors who embody the live-loving, zesty soul, begining with our venue: The Neo-Byzantine mansion Ktima Hatzi in Athens.

As 2021 weddings are to go back to their heart, making treasured memories with friends and family, nostalgia is going to be a huge part of the celebration. Dotted with rare, symbolic reliefs and murals, warm wood-stone and marble, lit by large windows and arched porticos of unique views dominating the Synterina Hill across Athens Riviera, Hatzi Mansion is not a simple venue, but a historical landmark whose 'semantic' blend of architecture and ambiance became the perfect canvas for us to draw upon.

Inspired by the hues and murals inside the mansion's walls we aimed for the cynosure and personality of our palette, daring pinks, eye-catching marigold yellows, arresting tangerines, sublime greens, and punchy peaches, lining our tablescape, our paper suites, the desserts, the edible favor labels, even the gifts, handcrafted paintings and handpainted fedoras for the guests.

As locavore is going to be huge in 2021, and Greece is the absolute destination to indulge in unique flavors and culinary delights, we also paid tribute to its multiplicity in the menu and the liquor assortments served during the cocktail hour. We designed a menu based on locally-farmed meats, foraged ingredients, seasonal fruits and vegetables, and modern Greek twists on classic wedding dishes, but also collections of local herbs to be offered as favors next to meat & vegetable cutting boards baring the couple's signature.

Decorative pieces and furnishings also got the visual optimism treatment, centering around the fact that traveling where the soul soars will again be made possible. Small decorative world-map globes and suitcase pieces were used as a nod to mindful trotting.

We believe that come the new season destination wedding couples will want to spoil their guests every way possible making their experience-centric celebrations last longer and sate all the senses. No luxury bash is complete without a poolside party, topped with Slim Aarons and Vanity Fair vibes that is why we loved the late afternoon shots of our couple to take place by the swimming pool pavilion.
