The Glasshouse Chelsea in New York is an airy loft with endless city views, yet it was the perfect spot to host a romantic and soft wedding like this. With over-the-top florals, gold metalic accents, and the sweetest cake table, this shoot successfully recreates a soft + intimate wedding in one of the biggest cities in the world. soft + romantic urban venue design
From Lovely Luxe Rentals: Holly and Austin are a real couple, who were engaged in Central Park while visiting New York City. They modeled for this Editorial Shoot and it was the perfect timing – three weeks before their own wedding! What perfect practice!
Our goal for this shoot was twofold. First - it was to show the beauty of NYC both in the daytime AND at night! Second - we wanted to show that even an urban, city venue could be soft and romantic with the right design.
over-the-top florals
Lovely Luxe Rentals designed the day’s details, in addition to providing the luxury tabletop rentals. The venue, Glasshouse, in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City is a blank canvas venue with floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Here, guests are treated to classic New York City skyline views including the Empire State Building and the Hudson River.
The first key to creating a romantic setting was the over-the-top floral ceremony arch by Macari Floral. Austin couldn’t keep his hands off his stunning bride-to-be in her Liza Ray New York gown. The love between these two is undeniable in their ceremony smooches! No wedding would be complete without Holly’s girl gang. Sip and be seated
To transition into the reception, Lovely Luxe Rentals designed a champagne escort cart display, featuring scroll name tags by Vidhi Dattani Designs. What better way to welcome guests than with a glass of the finest bubbly? They were invited to “Sip and Be Seated.”
Lovely Luxe Rental’s details continued to the tablescape – the next key to making a city wedding feel romantic. The tabletop is both classic yet modern with creamy charger plates and scalloped dinnerware that added texture. Lovely Luxe Rental’s Gold + Lucite Vanderbilt flatware is a work of art in itself – the real wow factor of this tablescape. By combining a gray velvet linen from Nuage linen with the gold details of the tabletop rentals, the cool atmosphere of the venue was instantly warmed. The low understated centerpieces invite guests to converse easily across the table.
the sweetest desserts
The neutral color palate followed along to the dessert display, designed by Lovely Luxe Rentals using their collection of cake stands and vintage books and delicious desserts by Antoinette Boulangerie. Austin feeding his new bride a bite of dessert is the cutest!
The venue’s terrace is the ideal setting for newlywed portraits, the hustle and bustle of the city set behind Holly’s wind-blown veil. Between that veil, the tablescape, the stationary, and all of the bride's accessory, there was no shortage of detail shots here.
