Behind the inspiration
From Marrymi - Wedding Photography: The inspiration for this shooting comes from the "Met Gala" which is a major fundraising benefit even that annually serves as an opening celebration for the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit. It is considered to be the fashion industry's most important annual red carpet event in New York. Each year the event has a theme that sets the tone for the annual exhibit and also for the guests who attempt to dress to match the theme of the year, oftentimes setting trends in the world's leading fashion retailers.
Met Gala Saint and Queen
For this shooting we took inspiration from one of these themes, "Met Gala Saint and Queen" as we imagined a royal Queen figure for the Woman (as in Victorian age), half saint half passionate; The wings represent the "Saint" side while red colored palette want to recall the passionated love instead. We choose a particular venue for this shooting, Castello di Piovera since XIV century old, because it is one of the latest still existing italian castle with original pieces of art inside and with an high cultural profile; we thought it would have been the best frame to represent the queen's hystorical value and that mystery touch.
strong + warm colors
That's why this Styled Shooting is based on a very strong and warm colors palette which is unusal for the fashion wedding market. It was a real challenge for all the vendors to create a project with a boho soul but with strong colors and materials. We used velvet dark purple ribbons to enrich the table napkins made with raw cotton and placed on handmade engraved gold plates. As well the linen cloth was handmade embroidered. I also crafted myself the bride crowns with more the 1000 crystals and 200 pearls. Based on 2019 Met Gala we created a unique scenery where flowers and pampas recreate the angel wings shape but with dark color, cause we wanted to consider and enlight the passionate side of love.
Setting the right mood
The mood was perfect because we shot during a super foggy day in autumn and the atmosphere was typically Italian for that period. If it happens to choose Castello di Piovera as the venue for your wedding, you can even offer guided tours of the castle to the guests. You can visit the cultural historical-artistic path outside in the park or have a magical walk in the original rooms with canvas and furniture from that time, or even in the huge library with tones of handwritten magazines and books. This venue is a very typical Italian old style; it is also rich in Italian culture and represents our past and history so much.
