Ballerinas, a Faberge egg cake and royal details in blush and gold set the tone for this over-the-top regal wedding inspiration. Swoon Soiree and a talented crew of vendors pulled out all the stops to make this incredible shoot a reality in the Marble Room at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
Professional ballerinas placed on tables as real-life centerpieces added a new level drama to this regal wedding style. Our favorite detail though? The bride-models custom made princess gown from House of Laposh and her festival inspired hair and makeup. Swoon! From Swoon Soiree: This shoot was inspired by the love story and the royalty of the Faberge Egg. The Faberge Egg was gifted to Czarina Maria by her husband, Alexander II. She said that it reminded her of home. Each year during the Russian Orthodox Easter, Alexander II commissioned a new egg and gave it to his wife. With the influence of the Russian romance, we were drawn to ballet.
Ballet is commonly used to entertain aristocrats within their courts and at their weddings. We wanted to showcase a modern day romance with some new takes on a royal wedding. The soft colors allowed the texture, and the details to take center stage. The ballerinas are professional dancers that acted as live centerpieces for this wedding.
The cake was a total showstopper. Sweet Fix hand carved a large Faberge egg to sit on top of the cake. When you open certain Faberge eggs there is usually something very pretty on the inside. It may be a gorgeous interior or an actual trinket. The cut out on the large tier of the cake is a representation of that.
The gown was custom made by House of Laposh. We wanted to be a bit playful with the ballet but still bring on the drama. This would be a bride that loves to push a few limits and is a ton of fun. The festival inspired makeup and glitter makes this event a bit less serious. I envision this bride being of a certain upbringing, but bending the rules just a bit to make it better fit her personality and style.
