12 Wedding Trends That Will Get a Ton of Play Next Year
Pinterest is great, we love it, and have gotten SOOO much inspo from the P over the years - but we’ve been picking up a lot more wedding whimsy from our own #inspiration pages these days. And it’s all thanks to our wonderful vendors who keep pushing fresh Insta content our way. I started scrolling through the latest this afternoon, and when I finally surfaced (a few hours later 😳), I had more than a few new wedding trends twirling through my mind.
From mixed-print bridesmaid dresses to statement shirts for grooms, circle invitations and see-thru signage to wooden ring holders and floral accessories (and no, not headpieces or veils), here are some trends we know will be sooo hot through 2018 and into 2019.

These trends are gold, baby, solid gold
BRidal capes
Kate Middleton donned a cape when she was pregnant, Kaley Cuoco rocked a Reem Acra cape at her wedding earlier this month, and brides everywhere are embracing the trend more and more every day. It’s the perfect way to bring some femininity into your bridal look, and it’s a great alternative to a traditional veil (although we think statement veils will still be trending through the next few years). If you can’t be superwoman on your wedding day, when can you be.
Mixed-Print Bridesmaids
We’ve seen color/shade stories with bridesmaids become the new norm, but now we’re getting a dose of mixed-print bridesmaid dresses ((and it’s thaaa bestttt)). How stunning does a pink/peachy palette look when it’s channeled in chiffon and embroidered tulle gowns? We just love how varied the whole squad will look on the altar. It’s pretty 💣.
Floral Belts and Chokers
Floral crowns 😫 ((yawn)). We’re just about over them. But floral belts and chokers are another story. Kind of a boho bride’s dream, amirite?
Suspended Cakes // Cake Vignettes
ICYMI, hanging cakes have been alllll over Instagram over the last few months - hanging from flowers, hanging upside down, lots of magic at play. But the flower magic here, using a vintage bar cart, lots of greenery and preciously-placed blooms, is next level. Sweet AF.
Opal Rings and Nuanced Rose Gold

Opal engagement rings will be hugeeee this year and next, and it makes sense because unicorn/holographic/rainbow color trends with weddings aren’t going anywhere. La More Design’s new opals collection officially has our hearts, especially the options that include diamonds (🦄💎 SO GOOD). And rose gold isn’t on its way out either, instead the trend is getting tweaked. Jewelry designers like Rough Luxe are working with new hues of rose gold - peachier iterations that are altogether so much more romantic, sweet and feminine.
Circle Invitations
How long have we been dealing with square and rectangular invites? They’re wonderful, of course, but so basic. That’s why we can’t wait for circular invites to start making their rounds. They’re super creative and certainly out-of-the-box, and for a celebration that basically revolves around a circle of trust, they’re 👌.
Engagement Party Photo Invites
We’ve seen couples get amped about their engagement photo sessions to furnish so fly save-the-date cards, but now the trend is to get engagement photos even sooner, so they can star in your engagement party invites. Oh, and liners, we’re definitely all about the liners. And the DIY liner trend will be picking up steam, too, we’re placing bets RN…
New Takes on Getaway Cars
Get ready for some new looks to getaway cars… We’ve seen them in the form of tricked-out canoes for camp-style, lakeside weddings, and couples on ski lifts, heading up the mountain with their ride or die by their side, and we only expect this trend to keep soaring from one season to the next.
Adventure Weddings
Do you and your S.O. scare the s*** out of your friends and family on the reg with all of your risky behavior? Will your wedding be the next big adventure you two take? Well then, you’d probs be down for something like this… Parachuting into your wedding, with your bridal party, and your 100 guests? SO BEYOND. Your pics will be epic nevertheless.
Luggage Tag Favors
While we’re on the topic of flight… We expect custom luggage tag favors will be getting some air this year and next. Not only are they super cute for summer weddings, when vacay time is coming in hot, they can double as escort cards for a destination wedding.
Double Exposure Photography
We’ve already talked about this wedding photo trend in great detail, but expect it to turn up even more in 2019. Especially when it comes to the detail shots… HOW GORG IS THIS?!?!!
COLORED SHOES
Yes, of course this trend isn’t exactly new, but any time we see a pretty pair of colored heels we’re in ❤️. Especially when it's of the pink flamingo suede variety... Makes for a great addition to any 'getting ready' photo vignette, and if you're rocking a short dress, or something high-low, everyone will be peeping those pumps ALL DAY.
