9 Beauty Trends You’re Probably Afraid to Try, But Should
Not to sound ridiculously stereotypical, but is there anything better than walking into Ulta or Sephora? I’d pretty much describe the experience as euphoric: pushing the doors open, and floating inside to aisles and aisles and end caps and counters of the best products IN the world. A signature powdery aroma hits you smack in the face, and you start feeling like anything is possible with that empty basket on your arm. It’s a great feeling, and also a huge indicator that I’m a marketer’s dream… I come in, I get all 😍😍😍over everything that’s at my disposal - hair sprays, serums, blow dryers, moisturizers, body lotions, makeup in all of its forms, gimme all of it - and I buy. I’m not saying it’s smart, but the retail therapy definitely awakens my soul. See 9 Beauty Trends You’re Probably Afraid to Try, But Should right now!
No Makeup No Problem In any case, it’s here that we can get our #follower status on and embrace the trends we’ve been seeing all over social media. Some of them are legit, with tons of staying power (ALL about the makeup free movement that’s still going strong vis-à-vis celebs like Demi Lovato, Chrissy Teigen, etc. #makeupfreemonday is 🙌), others are total one-and-done wonders and some are straight-up scary - yes, the dead bug stuff, going to file that away for never happening. We took a sec to go through all of our saved posts on Insta, and here are some of the beauty trends that made us go WTF a little bit….
But LBH, we still might try them anyway, because our FOMO is somethin’ fierce.
Scroll through for some of 2018’s coolest-weirdest-loudest-most delicious beauty trends we’ve been 👀👀👀 over the last few months. From most likely to make it into 2019 to least likely!Photo Source: @ddlovato
OPAL HAIR If you’ve dreamt about having unicorn hair like Cardi B’s, but can’t exactly commit to full-on multi-colored tresses, this is exactly what you need to do. ((I’m still wondering how I can do it, since I’ve abandoned blonding ever since getting pregnant two years ago…)). It’s peachy, it’s purply, it’s luminescent, it’s all kinds of luscious. Read more about where this oh-so-cool color came from here .

GLASS SKIN We love ourselves a K-beauty trend, and glass skin is going nowhere now that it’s become mainstream in the world of moisturizing. You know it when you see it, too, because glass skin is glowy AF. Basically, you just need to work out your skincare routine - exfoliate your skin like crazy, hydrate hydrate hydrate with lightweight, plumping and flexing advanced-actives-enhanced serums, and then repeat that life 24/7. Need a refresher? Check out the glass skin game plan here.

BUTT MASKING Hands down, the best. If you’re masking your face on the reg, then you should show your ass some love too! Brands like Anese and Bawdy Beauty are heads above the rest with their hydrating, toning, booty-sculpting and stretch mark-solving masks and scrubs. Not to mention, we could so use any excuse to walk around with a full glass of summer sips and our cheeks out at the end of the week. #sunsoutbunsout. ☀️🍑

RAINBOW NAILS Pride month may be over, but rainbows are as hot as ever. Nail artists have been high-color-dosing their designs, and we’re loving every iteration of it. If you’re usually not a big fan of color when it comes to your mani, that’s okay, you can stick with a neutral nail and just add a rhinestone or two of color on one nail per hand. Or just top coat with some glitter. I wanna try this pastel look with negative space.

GLITTER BOMB BEAUTY 🦄 everything is still alive and well - and when it comes to beauty, rainbow glitter is going big. Holographic highlighters, glitter-infused glosses, and glitter drops to add to any moisturizer, finishing veil or foundation you own. The products are one-off and part of full collections too, remember the Too Faced festival range ?

Twiggy Lashes I am SOO into the 60s beauty look. And so many makeup artists are revisiting the model’s vibe with full-length upper and lower lashes that flashback to Twiggy’s spidery and thick trademark eyelashes. You can go with extensions, fluffy falsies or just a few extra coats of thick mascara to make the look your own. Obsessed.

Halo Brows The picture says it all, but we’re not too sure how heavenly this trend is. Weirdly makes us think of Dodgeball , right? Well, it’s essentially just using a brow pencil to create a reverse unibrow. It’s weird and so not wearable, but it sprang up this spring and still has some pep in its step. We can do without it.

ENTOMOLOGY COSMETOLOGY And that’s putting it nicely… Hoping this trend - which went viral all thanks to Ms. Jasmine - molts on its own, because bugs and beauty aren’t really sympatico. Essentially, Jasmine was using dead bugs to deck her eyes out. Now, not saying that we’d actually try the moth, beetle and honeybee looks, BUT they much tamer to look at next to the scorpion and mealworm motifs. Our vote: Buhbye insect eyes. Fly fly!
