Ever since I was 16 and first noticed my laugh lines I have been obsessed with how to keep my skin looking young. Now I'm 21 and nothing has changed. I'm still obsessed with skincare. I know, it's ridiculous and I shouldn't even be worrying about wrinkles but nonetheless, I do. In all that time I have built up quite the knowledge base on skincare and anti-aging. Here is my guide to healthy younger looking skin!
Do you know what damages your skin? The list is long and most of these things we do daily. Sun exposure, free radicals, smoking cigarettes, caffeine, certain skincare products, smiling, popping pimples, stress - the list goes on and on. So what do we do? Say no to coffee, stress and smiling? That would be impossible. So do this instead and no matter what life throws at you you'll always have beautiful glowing skin.
Skincare Routine and Image: Sephora
Younger. Healthy. Clear. Glowing. These are all qualities everyone wants in their skin and it's not that hard to achieve if you stay consistent with your skincare routine. This PM skincare routine from Sephora is amazing! Except, what the hell is essence?! When I first came across this skincare routine I had no idea either. Essence is a very lightweight serum. It basically adds an additional layer of moisture and moisture = glowing healthy skin that reacts to damage a lot better than dry skin. I've listed some of my favorite products below in each of these categories. P.S. the Vital C Hydrating Anti-Aging serum listed below is seriously LIFE CHANGING.
Cleanser: Image Skincare ORMEDIC Balancing Facial Cleanser
Mask: Image Skincare Biomolecular Sheet Mask
Essence: Caudalie Winoperfect Concentrated Brightening Essence
Serum: Image Skincare Vital C Hydrating Anti-Aging Serum
Eye Cream: Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb

Sunrays are incredibly damaging to your skin. The NUMBER ONE anti-aging thing you can do for your skin is to wear SPF. You should wear sunscreen on your face and neck year round even if you aren't planning on being outside for long! But, be careful when choosing your sunscreen because some sunscreens increase your risk of cancer and throw off your hormones!! My favorite sunscreen is Alba Botanica Very Emollient SPF 50. It is Skincare Cancer Foundation recommended and is free from harmful chemicals.
Skincare is something you should be thinking about every day, not just on those special occasions. Your skincare routine should always include protection from the sun's ultraviolet rays. During the summer, we're often quick to use sunblock or sunscreen on an outing to the beach, but did you know that you should be using some sort of protective skincare all year round? The sun's rays are just as harmful to our skin in the winter as they are during the summer.
There are two types of rays emitted by the sun that you should be aware of:
UVA Rays
UVA rays can be responsible for many forms of skin damage, including wrinkling and premature aging. So, if you want your skin to remain youthful and to keep those crow's feet at bay, you should seriously consider investing in some protective skincare for all year round protection.
UVB Rays
UVB rays aren't as well known as UVA rays. UVB rays are responsible for sunburn. Burning your skin out in the sun can be very painful, especially when it blisters and peels.
Both forms of rays can contribute to skin cancer, too, so it's not just vanity you're thinking about when you decide to keep your skin in good condition. Thankfully, you don't necessarily have to put on thick, gloopy, high SPF lotion every day leading up to your wedding. Did you know that you can wear foundation that can protect you from the sun? So, you can still carry out your normal beauty routine and protect your skin at the same time.

Another culprit that causes skin damage from sun rays is mirrored sunglasses. I was shocked too. They reflect sun rays directly onto the skin below them causing 2x the damage from being in the sun. Yes, they are cute and totally trending right now but is that worth aging your skin? My answer, no.

Facials are amazing. If you have never had one STOP READING THIS and go book yourself an appointment. But, then come back to this article because I have more amazing tips for your skin! Facials can really change the appearance of your skin. I have noticed such a huge difference in my skin since I started getting them.
Not only are facials good for your skin but they are incredibly relaxing. Stress ages you quite a bit, just look at any president at the beginning of their term and at the end. They always look way older than they should in just 4 years. Facials not only treat your skin topically but also internally by lowering your stress. Half the time I get a facial I end up falling asleep. It's amazing.

My last tip is to focus on your face, neck, and hands. These three parts of your body tell age the most. I exfoliate my hands, neck, and face 2x a week and moisturize every day. Tula's exfoliating treatment mask is one of my favorites! This really helps to revitalize my skin and keeps it soft and fresh! I love it.
Hooray! So now that you know how to keep your skin looking great for your wedding and you have your registry list completed, all you have to do is look forward to the big day! Oh and don't forget to pack actual sunscreen or sunblock for your honeymoon. Without healthy, glowing skin, all of your efforts will be for nothing. That's why it's important to take care of your skin.
Foundation might cut it for typical weather, but if you're off to bask in the sun on some deserted island, you and your honey will undoubtedly need extra protection while you're sunbathing and daydreaming about all the wonderful wedding gifts you received. The future is certainly looking bright!
I hope all these skincare tips help you! Don't forget to share this post so all your BFF's can have healthy younger looking skin too.
